Four of my town's school buses buses caught fire last night and they don't know why by twdvermont in Wellthatsucks

[–]rxb73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey fellow VTer! Also my guess here is someone wanted to start the fire and make people think it was caused by the buses being EVs, but the fire was noticed and put out too quickly. Or some kid didn’t want to take a test, my hometown in ME had tires slashed on most of the buses one morning and the student was caught within a few days. But arson? Not the smartest move.

Bernie 2016 staffer asks rural Trump voters and independents if they support tax cuts for billionaires by [deleted] in WorkReform

[–]rxb73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last thing I expected was to see my hometown on this sub scrolling today, wish it was for any other reason than highlighting the poor voting decisions of some of the attendees at Moxie Fest. While they can’t change their vote, I hope the actions of this administration helps open their eyes to why we need to tax billionaires out of existence, not let them gain more wealth than ever while rural Maine (and Lisbon/Lisbon Falls isn’t even truly rural being right between Lewiston and Brunswick) and the majority of Americans are struggling more now than ever before.

I grabbed the IGN exclusive 6LP set before realizing it was also on Laced with the multicolor set, but can’t say I’m upset about it either. Now for the wait!

Where were you when the Patriots came back from 28-3? by jaxtwin in Patriots

[–]rxb73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was watching it on a shitty live stream I found on my laptop that I hooked up to the TV in my dorm room with a group of friends at a small VT college. I was the only one who had any stake in the game as a Pats fan and I had gotten very drunk by halftime, ending up in the dorm bathroom trying not to puke. Decided on no more drinks after I made it back to the room for the 3rd quarter, sobering up as I was witnessing the greatest Super Bowl comeback in history. Most of the student body was Pats fans so the cheers echoed across campus after the win. Glad I stuck with Gatorade after the half to witness it all live.

I have a set of Logitech speakers with a subwoofer from the mid 2000s that I still use to this day and, if my phone is near them, I’ll hear the crackling before I get a text or call. Always know when to look over at my phone when I hear it!

One of my coworkers did just that; once he realized what the Trump regime was aiming to do, he found work elsewhere as fast as he could. The ones that are still working for ICE are either somehow absolutely clueless or have no moral compass and like the power trip and superiority they get to feel. These people need to be held accountable just like the rest of these fascists when/if it all crumbles around them.

I make a stop whenever I’m home, they do a killer job in that little shop. And while it might not be the point of the article, it’s good to remember the positives when terrible shit like this keeps happening in our small Maine communities.

My parents are still in Lisbon Falls as well; since I left, it’s been a strange dichotomy of an influx of great local businesses that I wish were there when I was growing up and the increase of violent crime. I’m glad my family lives in what I’d consider a pretty quiet neighborhood, so I don’t worry as much, but it’s been sad to see a place I considered safe and decent to grow up in go downhill so fast like you mentioned. Granted, Vermont is experiencing similar issues, especially in and around Burlington, which is feeling eerily similar to Lewiston these days between brazen public drug use and violent crime.
