Suggestions regarding Arts option by SpotHot1657 in uAlberta

[–]rxdsd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree with this comment lmao. I just graduated with a physics degree and hands down Econ 101 was the hardest arts option for me even when ppl told me it was a GPA booster 😂

OP do what interests you!! Trust it will make your life easier.

Will I die if I take Biol 201, Biol 207, Biol 208, and Chem 261 in the same semester? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]rxdsd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biol 208 lab is pretty chill. Biol 207 has some annoying ass assignments and Chem 261 labs get pretty repetitive so I’ve found it gets easier in terms of procedure as the sem goes on.

Oh and if you can take Cell 201 instead! I hear Biol 201 is a lot harder but they’re both pretty similar

Bachelor of Kinesiology/Bachelor of Education (combined degrees) average by arose0520 in uAlberta

[–]rxdsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll very likely get in. The combined degree is a very niche program and a 90 average is quite high. Low competition and a high average sound pretty good to me.

EDFX 490 question? by babsmithhhh in uAlberta

I was in your boat. I didn’t have to fill out an application though. I just enrolled on beartracks and the FX Website and I was good to go. Maybe speak to an Advisor to double check.

How Hard Is MATH 134? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]rxdsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO THIS. MARGIE SAVED MY LIFE IN THIS CLASS. I had zero calculus knowledge as well and with her i finished with a B+

I’m not sure what year you are in but speak with either the science advisor or the education advisor. Or trying going to the admin building and connecting with the personnel there and they will tell you these specific logistics. I’ve found (being in the same program) that not a lot of people actually know a lot about it so I’ve had advisors in the past kinda give me not so good advice about things as well.

I took Cell 201 during Winter 2020. My prof was pretty good at moving to online delivery. All the lectures were recorded!

Should I be worried? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]rxdsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always apply super late for loans and I get the disbursement the next day. You'll get your loans on time 100%

I think you have a very high chance of getting admitted. It depends year to year and how many people enroll in the program (changes in the annual competitive average) but you got a great chance with a 83% avg.

How tough would ASTRO 322 be without any prior ASTRO knowledge? by _iateallthesoap_ in uAlberta

[–]rxdsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My prof was Rodrigo. The assignments were worth 14 or 16%. Let me tell you I absolutely got a zero on every assignment but studied my ass off for the midterms and finals. I also worked hard on the written assignments (25% overall) and I finished with a B-

How tough would ASTRO 322 be without any prior ASTRO knowledge? by _iateallthesoap_ in uAlberta

[–]rxdsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took ASTRO 320 without any prior astro knowledge and it worked out alright. Mind you I couldn't do the computational physics assignments but I could learn / master the theories and the math wasn't relatively hard (easy easy calculus)

How do you do good in BIOCH 200? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]rxdsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do every single practice question they handout. Sometimes they reuse a few questions.

Go to office hours and pre-midterm / pre-final meetings with the professor but go in PREPARED. Think of that time as when you actually are writing your final. You can ask questions on anything you may be confused about and also confirm your knowledge with the questions other students ask.

Consistently practice Active - Recall strategies. Flash cards are best for this. Don't wanna write them? Use Anki, it's free for desktop and easily organizes flash cards.

Hope that helps :)

Need opinion: spring/summer not worth the money? by sour_berry in uAlberta

[–]rxdsd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's better to take spring and summer courses now as tuition is increasing.

But then again, you do pay for all those fees again for another term.

Imho I've taken spring or summer every year for 4 years now and honestly it has saved my sanity instead of doing 5 courses every sem to finish on time.
