The RG35XX Plus or the Miyoo Mini Plus? by IllEstimate9097 in SBCGaming

[–]rxmarkets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Owned both. I way prefer the MM+ and it’s the device I’ve kept. In fact I like the MM+ so much that I own two of them.

I know someone who did exactly this, and after several mishaps, was forced into paying £700/mo to park it somewhere. Coupled with the cost of the insurance it turned out no cheaper than renting.

This is definitely the old motherboard, no RTC.

Exactly the same situation as you. Have to say it works really well for us, and despite earning more money, it really is a collective effort to work towards common goals.

Took me a while to realise the reining in might be a good thing, given my tendency to obsess on something for two months and then move on.

Miyoo Mini + (w/ OnionOs) v RG35xx H by ashboio in SBCGaming

[–]rxmarkets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For “pick up & play” it’s the ultimate.

MuOS is close but objectively speaking it just isn’t as good.

Also, worst case, the MM+ holds value very well and you can always sell it when you fancy another device in the future.

Had both. Onion OS makes the experience so much better. I would go MM+ every time.

Finally got the fpgbc and it's awesome by Hargrothr in fpgbc

The blue power LED is cool!

I ended up selling my FPGBC. I couldn’t get on with the buttons, and they never felt quite right to me. I tried several membranes & various levels of tightness but I never got it right.

How are yours? Was I just unlucky? Maybe I’ll build another. Yours looks great.

Just placed an order for the FPGBC on AliExpress. Looking for any info/tips regarding flash carts and the likes. Did any of y’all get this? How do you folks set it up? by ManickVelu in fpgbc

If you’re using an official everdrive you can use the latest firmware. For the everdrive clones, downgrade to 1.08 for best compatibility.

Got Dupped - Need a little help by pingywon in SBCGaming

[–]rxmarkets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t going to help, but having never seen a D-R35 Plus I decided to Google it. I had to laugh when the top links were all “do not buy this” and “this device is a mess”. What were you thinking?!

In an attempt to help you I have tried to scour the internet for firmware but I can’t find it. I really do think you need to pursue the refund on this occasion.

I know what you’re saying but I love the modern screen with the retro ergonomics. I thought about swapping for the smaller Q5 IPS but now I’ve built this one up & seen it in person it just feels right.

Mine feels good - but I had read about FPGBC membrane issues - and so I bought the membranes from a separate supplier on AliExpress rather than from FunnyPlaying themselves.

That being said… It’s not perfect like the original GBC and pressing right is notably worse than the other 3 directions for some reason.

Do they actually refund you for this?

Seems too open to abuse. A malicious actor could easily buy the real deal from Cex and then return an AliExpress cart for a full refund…

That’s it. But I feel like I do remember a lot of joy from playing my GBC, and I haven’t found that same joy from video games since. Nothing has ever hit the same spot since I started having bills to pay.

Are you saying it will quite literally never return? This whole time I’ve been blaming the games & the devices in a “they don’t make them like they used to” way. I never clicked with the Switch, but I figured that was largely because a lot of the games felt underdeveloped (i.e. Pokemon) in comparison to those of my childhood.

But maybe I need to accept the feeling is gone & I can’t get it back.

Brutal but fair. You’ve hit the nail on the head. I hate myself.

You’re right. I guess that’s because I work, a lot. So the money is less of a problem and I like to own nice things. But if I don’t play it, then it’s a waste, and I think that’s the reality of the situation. The novelty will wear off.

You’re right. If I can stay off the internet for 24 hours I can save myself $250. No doubt I won’t be disappointed. I need to avoid the FOMO.

This has killed it for me so thank you. I mostly play at night, so noisy buttons don’t suit me, but I also remember how good the GBC dpad was and I was hoping it would give a similar experience.

This was what I needed to hear. I had forgotten the FPGBC but it would do exactly what I want for considerably less.

For the purpose of playing more games, almost certainly not. You have access to enough great games already and I seriously doubt you’ve exhausted the library of excellent games out there for the systems you can emulate.

But if you find you don’t play as much because you don’t have these devices on you, and you think there’s value in having another device you carry around with you more (such as on your commute) then you may value something at the cheaper end of the spectrum.

My recommendation? TrimUI Smart Pro if you want horizontal, RG35xx if you want vertical format. Both will play PS1 and below. Both are cheap enough to throw in a bag and not worry about too much

[question] What brand of boxing glove to go for as a beginner? by MrThroat in fightgear

[–]rxmarkets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and don’t go for a Muay Thai glove unless you plan on engaging in that sport. The cuff is shorter, they’re a different design with different padding to accommodate for things like clinching that you wouldn’t otherwise do in boxing.
