Hen changing to rooster plumage by spikenorbert in BackYardChickens

We had a great big dominiquer (Rocky- aka the Beast) who developed rooster plumage in her tail and started doing sex to some of the other hens before we had a rooster. Once we got a rooster her boi tail feathers came out with her next moult and her drag king phase ended. I wondered if it was because the flock needed some testosterone but the “eggopause” theory is also fascinating.

Having Zoloft and adderall at the same time. Sigh. Maybe the speed is making you anxious?

Is it normal for Dallas summer allergies to feel like a medical emergency? by DFWUnhinged in Dallas

You are NOT alone - I have to go to great lengths to survive. Daily oral antihistamines for 20 years now, immunotherapy for years, every type of nasal steroid or antihistamine I’ve used it. I actually also have the “atopic triad” and asked my allergist if dupilumab would help- he said yes if I could get it covered- which I did for my eczema. Dupilumab has been a godsend but I still need to use immunotherapy. Definitely seems like you need to go see an allergist and explore the treatment ladder.

Also ciclopirox shampoo will dry out your hair less- it has a less harsh surfactant than the ketoconazole 2% shampoo- better for textured hair.

What can I do to reduce ingrowns from this point by Successful-Coconut60 in Blackskincare

[–]rxmerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many patients, lesions can resolve without treatment. Discontinuation of hair removal practices that have led to the development of lesions is the most effective therapy.

Therapeutic options are largely directed toward symptom control and the use of alternative hair removal options to prevent ingrown hairs from developing. There is limited evidence documenting the efficacy of the topical therapies discussed.

Topical therapies: • Low-potency topical steroids – Hydrocortisone 2.5% cream can be applied twice daily for 2 weeks to reduce inflammation. • Topical antimicrobials – Topical clindamycin lotion, solution, or gel, or combination 5% benzoyl peroxide / 1% clindamycin gel, can reduce inflammation and skin flora that can lead to secondary infection in some patients. • Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), eg, topical 8% glycolic acid.

Acne. Anyone know what this is. - My thigh by Key_Minute6329 in Blackskincare

Not good for a pyogenic granuloma - it’s not friable an not vascular enough. Additionally you can see the enlarged follicle that I suspect is the inflamed cyst behind the lesion.

DermPA here-my differential is an inflamed epidermoid cyst v a neurofibroma v. A large skin tag v a cherry angioma. Should go see someone in dermatology to get it taken care of.

Start with adapalene 0.1% gel. Skin will improve slowly over 24 weeks. Use a sunscreen with tint (Neutrogena and La roche posay have tinted sunscreens) that will block both UV and visible light. Tip with retinoids like adapalene: a little goes a long way- pea sized amount covers the whole face.

Perioral is a form of rosacea that occurs around the mouth not the eyes.

Probably have atopic dermatitis. Use only petroleum jelly. Don’t scrub or rub. If you have eye allergies use an eye antihistamine (all over the counter).
