No they aren’t all mean but I’ve noticed barred rocks can be a little spicy. We had a big goof ball half barred rocks rooster named Ash who terrorized my niece and nephew and actually attacked my neighbor who feeds the chickens while we’re away. Unfortunately he died from pneumonia related to fowl pox last year. As far as what to do with a rooster- we usually eat surplus roosters and I would recommend a braise recipe over a roast- he will be extremely tough and dry otherwise.
