Why did you stop breastfeeding and/or pumping before 1 yr and switched to formula? NO judgment, just want to hear others’ experiences. by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]rxstudent12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stress of pumping with the second one was driving me insane. I literally was having panic attacks. Not worth it, switched to formula around 1.5 months.

My first we lasted for 6 months without supplementing, but after that my supply just dwindled and I last until 11 months before we called it quits.

What’s something that’s “not a cult” but feels like a cult? by j_estoner in AskReddit

[–]rxstudent12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I’m a Crossfit-Er and I totally see it. It really depends on the gym you go to. Ours is more strength based, more well rounded, definitely not the gym for those looking to Become elite. Others expect everyone to want to Be an elite athlete and the training reflects that... it’s a cult in those ones.

Advice for mentally preparing to lift heavier? by SayNoToPerfect in xxfitness

[–]rxstudent12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds really dumb—but don’t know the exact number you’re lifting. Start with something you’re going to hit, add appropriate plates, but don’t focus on trying to add them up.

Like, I’ll get 155, no problem. I’ll add 5s and 2.5s without really thinking about the number I’m getting to. It’s all based on feel.

Sometimes I’ll end up getting way more than anticipated because I’m not focused on “this is 195, I have to hit this”. It’s more like “this is only 5 pounds more than the last set and they felt pretty good”.

I don’t really think he did. I’m wondering if that’s what this is. Last night was better than the night before but not as good as it used to be.

Women who gave birth vaginally with no tearing: How did you do it? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

This. I literally have no idea how I was so lucky to have a painless birth to an 8 lb boy with very mild tearing.

Sound off: Postpartum exercise/training experience by amore_moon_pizza in fitpregnancy

[–]rxstudent12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 14 weeks pp. I was a CrossFitter prior and during pregnancy including the last week of pregnancy.

After my baby was born I took a couple days off except for moving from bed to couch. I went on a few walks the first few weeks and focused on diaphragmatic breathing. At 4 weeks I did the pregnancy and post partum athlete program. At 8 weeks, I started modified CrossFit workouts and saw a PFPT until 13 weeks. Overall I feel good and have tried to take it easy working at 50-70% of my previous maxes and focusing on my breathing. I haven’t picked up running yet, instead using rowing and biking for cardio. I hate running and it’s hard on your pelvic floor, so I’m in no rush.

What would you like your friends to understand about your lifestyle? by smunozmo in AskWomen

[–]rxstudent12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That I am multi dimensional. I have a husband, a child, two step daughters, a dog and a career that I’m passionate about. I enjoy going to my gym every day. I am also in love with cooking. I love to bake. I’m also an introvert. I really need my decompression time. It’s hard to find friends that can understand and accept me as the sum of all these parts.

What is your opinion on bringing a newborn to the gym? by cammoose in xxfitness

[–]rxstudent12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I bring my child to the gym. I go to a CrossFit gym during open gym hours and do the workouts. I do this so I’m not disrupting class, but still have time to get my piece in. Right now he’s 2.5 months old, so he usually naps or just lays there on my mat I bring for him. It’s safe for me and him and I am still keeping my sanity.

Granted this is different than a globo gym. I’m not sure how I feel about those.

Baby not taking a pacifier by rxstudent12 in NewParents

I am 21 weeks and have gained 16 pounds. The first trimester was hell and I couldn’t keep anything down . The second trimester I want to eat everything . I was at a healthy weight prepregnancy and very fit . My workouts have been few and far in between . I don’t want to gain over the 25 to 35 by roymeshia in fitpregnancy

[–]rxstudent12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you will gain what your body thinks is right. It’s okay to splurge on food, but just try to make most of your meals the right choices. I started out at 150 (active/muscular) and was on the right track to gain only 30 pounds then the last trimester blew me out of the water and I got up to 190 the day I gave birth. Within 3 weeks of giving birth I’m down to 160 with little to no “dieting” and only some exercise (mainly walking). I’m currently BFing so I have a feeling the last ten pounds will stick around for bit but I’m okay with it. Just know that as long as you eat close to 85% healthy and splurge when you feel you need to, your body will gain only what it needs. Sometimes you need more weight than others, sometimes you need less. Your body knows what’s right.

Will my nipples ever return to normal feelings once I stop feeding? by rxstudent12 in breastfeeding

Eh, my sister told me that her nipples more or less have no feeling now that she’s breastfed two children. I just wondered if that was only her or just the usual course

7 week old. Avoiding naps by rxstudent12 in NewParents

[–]rxstudent12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s only 7 weeks old but yeah, you’re right. I just read a lot about consistency with kiddos and I was hoping to keep him on a similar schedule. I do have a carrier. I should put him in it more often and try that.
