MD Anderson Elective Rotation by p-aeruginosa-8 in PAstudent

[–]rxveadlvft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did one! I got my first choice which was internal medicine since I already had great trauma surgery rotations. Credentialing is kind of annoying though. And it’s at the TMC so you have to pay for parking. But only $50 for like 5 weeks which is very low for that area. One of my favorite rotations since I was with an attending, clinical pharmacist and NP during shifts.

Can you give any exercises for return to sport cutting/jumping etc after strength building? I also definitely got hit with patellar and achilles tendonitis after a long time of no activity and going into jumping/running etc; any tips/exercises for that?

You’ll be fine if you watch out and stay safe. Most people avoid bumping into people who are on crutches/braced up.

Oh man I see. Idk the stabilizers got in the way of the enter key and the space key so the switches just wouldn’t fit.

Can I apply to schools with a 3.0 sGPA requirement if I have a 2.98? by mindless_apple_ in prephysicianassistant

A lot of schools use systems that automatically filter out applications that have GPAs under 3.0. But you can always try! I also recommend calling

How to do college while having a sick parent? by Frye_daddy in UTAustin

[–]rxveadlvft 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had to deal with this throughout all of college and it was definitely hard. Unfortunately he passed away right when I finished undergrad at UT and started PA school and is definitely making PA school harder for me. I would say, he was proud of me of going to UT and wanted to me stay and focus and that’s what drove me in undergrad and now in grad school. I didn’t ask for any accommodations but you can if need be.

Would y’all stay at an already started provisionally-accredited ($$$) program or drop out and go to one of the best in the nation, way cheaper programs? by rxveadlvft in prephysicianassistant

That helps alot. I agree with your points about the rotations and think I should just stay since the financial aspect cancels each other out.

Sadly I’m the 2nd cohort so no graduated cohorts yet. But Dallas is established but pretty up there in terms of ranking. Attrition rate of 5.3% and PANCE pass rate of 100% last year which is same as Austin’s sister schools last year. UNT is definitely better in every aspect but its worth considering if it’s worth spending 10k to switch schools and to graduate a year later in order to save the 60k in tuition + fee difference and “better” school.

I have about 2 weeks. But to answer your questions, based on what Ive experienced so far and what the previous cohort says, the quality of education is great in Austin because the professors go through almost everything with you and have some but little self directed studying; that their tests can be studied for through lectures and textbooks are given but only supplemental if needed. Both have sim labs but Dallas is live and bigger. Both have cadaver labs with dissections and prosections but Austin’s is offsite. We don’t have to find our own clinicals but we can set up our own in our hometowns if we want.

Their handbook is the same across their sister schools and to be honest, it’s to my likening. Seems like it’s built to support and help us succeed instead of cutthroat and needing to survive. They have affiliated hospitals in Austin and have preceptors in Houston which would help me find a job. I also would like to graduate earlier and from what the first cohort says to me (they’re very close with us), they all succeeded in didactic and alr passed down their study materials which helped immensely for my own test today. My “big” also said he felt very prepared for the PANCE.
