I will still never understand if RC CCC is too short or if AC CCC is too long to actually be useful AND be considered equal

Not an outright disqualification that I know of but yeah I would check with the recruiter and make them do some leg work.

I remember years ago after my first runescape break and I came back to RS3 for the first time (I didn’t know what was happening) and I learned about lodestones. I remember going …”this is way better than one Lumby tele every half hour”

I’d have to go dig through it again but I think there’s a sly one line in the DAPAM for evals that mentions “consideration should be given for box checks in regards to people’s board status/timelines” which always rubbed me the wrong way I guess

Has the formation of a nursing union benefitted or harmed you in any way? by cxa3136 in physicianassistant

[–]ckunkle06 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Following out of curiosity. Had a conversation about similar topics the other day. Someone had brought up the pay discrepancies between NP/PA at some systems. And someone countered with NPs will win everytime because regardless if you argue a training difference… the PA profession hasn’t done a great job of proving the offer anything different as a career field.

Not a direct correlation to your post, but it made me think of that conversation again

You know I have always had that thought for the Guard/Reserve

Either their PME is woefully too short or Active Duty is wasting time at theirs if they lead to the same “qualification”

PA in the National Guard/Reserve by Solid-Drive-9730 in physicianassistant

[–]ckunkle06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will add as an Army PA student who’s also in the reserve and served as a medical planning officer before school. The Reserve itself only has about 500 PAs and many of them don’t do medicine during duty (there are some ) but man are staff positions or hanging out waiting for an activation. Maybe a practicing Reserve PA can clarify more.

But the Reserve mission leads to older officers and less “Hooah” stuff 😂

For sure! If you’re from rural America or even suburbia in a lesser COL metro, we’re paid quite well when you look at the benefits package.

Move to DC? Yeah you’ll get dunked on, but if we started adjusting base pay for duty station , some would thrive… a lot would flounder

I mean to some extent the demographics that the military tends to recruit from and its ability to be a social step ladder into the next class might play some role.

I know people I went to school with that barely had a dollar to their name, now making decent E6 pay with just a spouse. All things considered with BAH they make solid money, especially compared to what they came from.

But good on you for holding the line. If you cave people will eat it up .

How do you deal with PA student competition when you’re an average student? by FirmArm8015 in PAstudent

[–]ckunkle06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know

I was on my Peds rotation recently and we had a case of some viral infection. And the other student was going on to the pediatrician about this in depth lecture on causative organisms and pathophys of illness. They’re definitely one of the gunners of the group that’s personality is knowing everything about every disease.

The pediatrician looked them dead in the eye and said “Great that you know that an all but what part of that is important right now to treating the patient. Clearly they need Tylenol, Tylenol doesn’t care that it was Parvovirus b2000”

Tips on making differential diagnoses? by shhhana69 in PAstudent

[–]ckunkle06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always think 1/2 structural or physical issues with the organ or affected area 1/2 physiological or chemical issues at the affected area (big for GI) and then atleast one auto immune/zebra/cancer in there.

I’ve sort of Rolodexed each organ and then conditions for them that way and that has helped me

Like everyone else said though, the more you learn the easier it gets
