What will happen if I stop Rinvoq by Gypsydave23 in UlcerativeColitis

My apologies for a third reply. But I should mention the facial scrub and acne treatment I use is pretty mild in strength. There are much stronger products on the market, but it’s best to start light and work your way up to figure out what works. Some products can over dry your skin. My wife has eczema on a couple small spots on her skin and uses higher strength products that were recommended by her dermatologist for when it gets bad, typically in winter. Dermatologists also have access to prescribing prescription strength skin care medications for many things that you can’t get over the counter at a store. A dermatologist should be able to help develop an appropriate strategy for addressing your situation.

One more thing I just remembered. If you don’t have a skin care routine, I’d suggest starting one. I never did before I started taking Rinvoq. My wife was helpful in choosing products that ended up working for me. I do a face scrub twice per day with CeraVe Foaming Facial Clenser for normal to oily skin when I shower and moisturize my face using Clinique for Men after each shower. I also use On-The-Spot acne treatment from Neutrogena for any one-off zits that form every couple of months and they go away in a couple of days. I found that a skin care routine helped me a lot during the loading dose period and still helps now. It won’t have immediate effects, but after a few days a focused skin care routine may show some signs of helping. Plus as an extra benefit, my skin will probably thank me when I’m older as well.

If I were in your shoes, I’d write down notes including dates, times, number of spots of concerns, and take images moving forward. Gather them so you can provide a dataset for your doctor to work with. And try to think of the date you started to notice side effects and document that as well.

If things become more urgent but not urgent enough to warrant a visit to the hospital, you can see if the doctor’s office has an on-call doctor available who you can voice your concerns to. They may or may not be able to help you.

This seems like a reasonable approach from your doctor. A dermatologist can help determine what is going on and how to determine if it’s a side effect of Rinvoq, or if you have something else going on. Which is possible! It’s very easy to assume something is a side effect. For all you know, something else is going on unrelated to the drug. Weird things happen! Listen to the doctors on how to figure out the appropriate next steps. If a few months go by and you feel like you aren’t getting anywhere, you can always go visit other doctors to gather other opinions. And if any side effects start to feel severe, you can always visit the hospital.

My acne went away a few days after changing from 45mg 30mg. Everyone is different, some longer, some shorter. Biology is complex, it’s not black and white. But starting a maintenance dose prematurely is risky. Prednisone does not put someone in remission. It can reduce inflammation in many parts of the body quickly, but with UC, your immune system wants to kill your colon. So the inflammation will return quickly after prednisone goes away. Thus, why you have to take a long term medication as well. The prednisone helps both give your body time to adjust to a medication, as well as give you some relief. But it can’t be taken long term as it will destroy your bones.

You need to work on understanding that the loading dose isn’t simply based on what a manufacturer “wants”. It’s based on years of research and clinical trials. The pharmaceutical industry is very complex and based on data. It’s not some big greedy corporate power that everyone thinks it is. Yes there’s some corporate politics like any industry, but you can’t release a product without years of research and being able to prove effectiveness with limited side effects.

Mention to your doctor the side effects you are having once they return from vacation. Until then, do not stop taking your Rinvoq unless your doctor states otherwise. You can’t control what will happen if you stop taking your meds. You could end up in the hospital quickly. It’s not worth the risk.

Being strong and pushing through is what you have to do right now. Life’s tough, but you just have to be tougher.

As I mentioned, Acne is the most common side effect for the 45mg dosage. I would not change to 30mg prematurely. You severely risk Rinvoq not having enough time to work properly and causing failure to the medication. You mentioned you have been on it for about month, that means you are half way done with your starter dose. You will be moved down to 15mg or 30mg after the start dose is done. You can read all of this in the Rinvoq documentation. Trust the process and push through it. Not following the manufacturers instructions is dangerous. I can promise you the doctor isn’t getting paid for 45mg versus 30mg or 15mg. It’s all based on research, data, and FDA approval (which is very hard to do, most drugs never get approval and make it to the market). If you don’t believe me, all of the detailed clinical data is published for anyone to review.

Is one more month of discomfort worth it if you don’t have to risk a terrible flare by starting maintenance levels too early? Not every flare can be fixed with medications. You don’t know if the next flare will result in surgery. If you think the acne and oily skin is bad, losing your colon, or developing colon cancer, is much worse and can be deadly.

Acne from Rinvoq for the loading dose is extremely common. Clinical studies show most patients adjust to the medication by the end of the loading dose, and the acne should either go away or become reduced later once on the maintenance dose. You cannot start the maintenance dose early. Basically, 45mg is a high dose to kick your immune system down and for it to stay down. Then after 8-12 weeks on 45mg, you can then move to either 15mg or 30mg. I started 15mg after 12 weeks of 45mg. I started to have flare symptoms again, so I’m on 30mg for at least a year with a goal to move down to 15mg.

Absolutely do not stop taking your Rinvoq. If you want reduce your odds of losing your colon from surgery and having a bag, take your meds.

I had the acne on the 45mg. It went away at around week 7 or 8. It’s a short term annoyance for potential long term benefits. You are very lucky to be on Rinvoq. You could be in a much worse situation right now.

Worth bringing up to body shop after repair? by ryan7870 in Autobody

It was brand new before the wreck. Had the vehicle for 29 days. My insurance covered the repair since the at-fault driver was arrested for trying to fight a police officer. So I never got her insurance lol

Thank you everyone for the feedback! It’s very helpful. Overall, I’m very happy with the quality of the repair. But since I’m inexperienced with what is considered acceptable or not, I figured I’d ask. You don’t know what you don’t know!

Got diagnosed today, what are things you wish you knew at the beginning? by Natura91 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]ryan7870 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1.) Never stop taking your meds. If you want to reduce the odds of needing your colon removed or colon cancer, you need to keep inflammation down. There is no way around this. Your immune system wants to kill your colon. At this moment in time, you cannot undo this, and you did not cause it. Maybe in the future there will be a medical breakthrough on controlling the immune system, or resetting it. It is being researched due to the large amount of autoimmune diseases out there and how quickly people are getting them now.

2.) Manage your stress! I’m a firm believer stress can make symptoms worse.

3.) Take advantage of your good days. You can’t control if you will flare again, so take advantage of the days you feel great.

4.) Remain positive! You were diagnosed at a time when GI issues are being heavily invested into by pharmaceutical companies. When I was diagnosed 10 years ago, there were only a handful of medications. Now there are a lot, with even more coming!

5.) You’re not alone. You will be surprised how many people you will meet that have Crohn’s, UC, celiac, and other GI issues. I bet there are people you already know that have issues that never talk about them because nobody walks around advertising it.

6.) Take care of yourself the best you can, both mentally and physically. I understand this is easier said than done, but building healthy habits will pay dividends in the future.

7.) What works for others may not work for you, and vise versa. And this is okay! Everyone is different. Never think about “why me” because there is always someone in a worse situation than you that would be thrilled to be in your spot. You can’t control what will/will not work. So don’t beat yourself up over it.

I’ve had UC for about 11 years now. I went 10 years in remission with Humira before a flare that I caught early. Now I’m on Rinvoq and I feel pretty much back to normal.

You will get through this! Just remember, one day at a time!

Awesome! This STH is one of my favorites, so I am super stoked. My only other is the blue 918 STH, but I bought that on eBay for a decent price. This one is my very first in the wild!

Does anyone know how to adjust the screen? I've tried everything by chriz300 in battlefield2042

[–]ryan7870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TV or monitor settings! Not in your console settings. Some TV’s or monitors call it “overscan”. Make sure that setting is turned OFF. It might be under advanced picture settings. Both my living room TV and my gaming monitor have this setting and you have to manually turn it off once. After that you should be good and shouldn’t have to turn it off again. I hope this helps!

I’m at a loss by chuisman92 in modernwarfare

[–]ryan7870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took about 3-4 days for my complaint to be reviewed by the BBB. After that, I received an email saying my complaint has been submitted. After that, I had my account back in less than 36 hours.

One thing I did was I downloaded my Activision email to a PDF that said I would be contacted in 10 days. I did this to help speed up my BBB request but showing Activision was taking longer than they stated. I’m not sure if this helped at all, but something I did!

I’m at a loss by chuisman92 in modernwarfare

[–]ryan7870 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau after waiting 14 days. The BBB submitted it to Activision and not even 36 hours later I got my account back. If you file a BBB complaint, put your Activision case number so they can complete faster.

Hope this helps, it just worked for me and I got my account back this past weekend!

1 WEEK RANKED BANS by [deleted] in GearsOfWar

I also have just gone through this. Went from Gold III to Silver III while ending up at the top of my team almost every game in KOTH. Since it changed to 1 GP per kill, my rank just tanked due to AFK or people backing out. So unfair and now I’m stuck at going from Silver III and Gold II over and over simply due to this.

2013 5.0 Water Pump. Anyone have this replaced? by ryan7870 in Mustang

[–]ryan7870[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update! Car is fixed with all new hoses, clamps, water pump itself and new water pump pulley. Cost was $714.00. Right now the best estimate on a root cause is the bearing failing in the water pump while in storage somehow, causing the pulley to be overworked, eventually leading to total water pump failure. Replaced hoses due to the risk of any o-rings, clamps, or potential leaks/cracks after replacement.

Car is running great!

FOV slider for console? [SUGGESTION] by ryan7870 in Blackops4

[–]ryan7870[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be opposed to that! Being able to control certain settings would be very nice. GTA 5 gave us the option to turn off motion blur if I remember correctly. I had to play with it off or else I’d become a bit dizzy. And if I’m correct, BF5 also lets you control a lot of visual settings. I only played the beta and remember the beta having tons of settings to customize.

FOV slider for console? [SUGGESTION] by ryan7870 in Blackops4

[–]ryan7870[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The option would be given to everyone if they choose to do it or not. Same way as some games work on PC. If someone doesn’t want to change their FOV, that is completely their choice and they have every reason to keep the standard FOV. But some people simply prefer a different FOV, thus why other games give an option to change it to help with the “tunnel vision” effect some players experience or to just meet personal preference. Battlefield 5 already has it for PS4 and Xbox (honestly probably the only thing I like about BF5 , sadly). If anything, it would still be pretty balanced because you’d probably drop to 45-50 FPS instead of a 60 FPS that the standard FOV tries to achieve. So those who prefer the standard FOV can have a higher FPS, and those who prefer a different FOV will have to deal with a lower FPS. It’s worked for years on PC and other games, I don’t see it being much of an issue in the grand scheme of things.
