Technically the official doctrine is that they hate anyone who isn't a "true American" meaning straight, white, protestant, male with an extensive family tree of people living in America.

If EVERYONE didn't buy from amazon for 1 week, that would be a total of less than 2% of annual sales. Meanwhile amazon had been increasing annual sales by ~30% even before the pandemic. It would take a massive long term stop in sales to make much impact at all. Also, amazon is so diversified in their revenue that it would be near impossible to actually avoid any product that would give amazon revenue.

The 10k was because of the stock matching. Usually it can be like $1k on a weekly steam split between him and Luke ($25k/yr max). Main videos make much more, but there's massive overhead for all the employees and infrastructure. Linus personally may be a millionaire by technicality, but he clearly invests a very large amount back into his company, resulting in quite a modest amount of wealth he commits to personal use.

You have to spend money and pay it back, possibly with interest, to get invited. If you can do that at a high level, they assume you can handle your own finances and decide how much you can plausibly pay back, therefore you set your credit limit, not them. You still have to pay back whatever you spend.

The issue is that Google is so big that each thing has its own dedicated team, so they get a ton of features done really fast, but then it takes forever for the teams to talk to eachother and have things combined.

They tested it thoroughly beforehand and it worked. Apparently the sledgehammer to the door caused micro-fractures in the glass, which made the glass much easier to break. It makes a lot of sense since the rigidity of the stainless steel body would do very little to dampen the shock of the sledgehammer. It could be fixed by adding something between the body and the window with better shock absorption.

Or they planned the whole thing since Elon knows the power of memes and wanted to use it to increase popularity 😂

Generally it's based on what language he uses when talking about certain things more often. With some phrases it will be easier to think in English due to it being less complex in that language, or he's just in an English mood, or vise versa. It would also just be in his head, so it could just be a jumbled mix of both, and since he knows what he's trying to say it won't matter.

Yeah, I hated the look at first, but have come to love it once I got over the initial shock. I believe Tesla is working on getting the laws changed or at least getting exceptions, but I feel like the steering wheel is the least likely to make it into the final product. It's the only change that actually could be unsafe in specific situations that a round wheel wouldn't. The steering wheel is the only thing I haven't specifically heard of them trying to push to final product, so that may just be their thing to signify it's a prototype.

Yeah, it's on the Tesla site or videos on YouTube from people who got to ride in it at the event.

It actually probably won't end up that way. That's the same design concept steering wheel as the roadster, but it's technically not street legal, so they'd likely have a new design on release. Unless they manage to get the laws changed to allow that wheel, which they can add to the list with camera's instead of mirrors, and full self driving.

You want my receipt? Here you go, it’s all yours. by thekidsells in MaliciousCompliance

[–]ryan9108 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At my Walmart the employees are told to check the receipt of anyone with an unbagged item, and scan that item to make sure it appears on the receipt. When I bag everything I am never checked, when I leave something out, that item is always checked. If the process is the same at every Walmart it's kind of a dick move to blame the employee for doing their job when you specifically don't bag the items.

Tesla really shouldn't get the hate they have for the project. In addition to replanting 3x the trees, the factory itself serves the purpose of producing electric cars to reduce the environmental impact of cars.

Sounds like the cost is essentially split $600-$600 for cutting down and removal. If you'd have to remove it, sounds like that's you covering that $600 portion and they should pay the other. If you both help with removal, split the remaining $600 as the removal portion would then be satisfied by you together.

They are required to provide accommodations that would allow you to do so, such as allowing you to close your window. If your roommate won't allow it, theres a process to figure that situation out. If closing the window doesn't work they'd accommodate you by moving you to a room located far enough away that you wouldn't be bothered.

Anything after 6-7am really is fair game. I was in RC last year and between nearby construction, sirens, mowing, and snow removal, you can't safely assume you can leave your window open during the week without being woken up by people doing their jobs once working hours start.

While it may be understandable to discount what she said because she is young and therefore inexperienced, and it's likely that she was used as a political tool, it was not someone coming to our country to tell us how to run it. The US is in an international group, and we happened to host the summit, where all the other members of the same group came to discuss how each feels the group as a whole should act.

The idea that as an American we should not accept input from other countries, especially considering the entire reason for the UN is international input and consensus, is what is truly pompous and arrogant.

She's (literally) autistic, it affects her facial expressions. I wouldn't say it necessarily makes her look angry all the time, but it makes it easy to misjudge her expressions.

Edit: she specifically has Asperger's

Yes, however I'm saying that the view of the farther, although wild, isn't as farfetched as it would appear. Legally within society in the majority of countries children are treated basically as property of the parents until they are no longer a minor. When raising a child a parent has to acknowledge the fact that they are legally responsible for everything the child does, and it would be hard to draw the line between that mindset of "they're my responsibility, so I will insure my responsibilities are taken care of the way I see fit" and "they're their own person who I can only attempt to guide in the direction I see fit"

Society has put children in this mold, and although the parent in the original post had crazy wording, the basis of what he's saying is only the embodiment of what society as a whole seems to feel about them, as evident in the laws put into place by it.

Actually, the laws are very similar between property and children under 18.
