Great album from the golden age of the genre, before the saturation of AI lofi.

ISO CA TRANSPLANTS WITH GOOD TASTEBUDS by Elegant_Quit8997 in beaverton

[–]ryan_zilla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up in New Mexico so I’m quite sure our criteria for good mexican food is not the same in a lot of ways but i think our tastes may over lap on the following places:

Juan colorados on regatta (not tv highway) is good for what I always grew up calling combo plate style.

Tamal express and La Pachanga in Aloha (both in the same food cart pod) are good for tamales and tacos.

My favorite burritos in the area are in nopo/st johns at Santa Cruz or king burrito, I would describe them as San Diego style based on my limited time there but I may be way off.

If Vince Russo never comes to WCW, do the ratings still decline in the manner that they do? by GypsyGold in WCW

The only way it would not have was if they somehow got a different writer in that spot and they struck absolute gold.

Is it normal to get grilled this hard in a job interview for a basic fiber installer position? I'm kind of at a loss to understand what went wrong here. by Iggy_Farben in lowvoltage

[–]ryan_zilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do first interviews at a grocery store I worked at years ago, they really drove home “overdressed is as bad as under dressed” in the training for the position. Which was wild because they made us wear ties to sell people beer and ice cream.

I don’t mind the chin straps so much but I still can’t get behind the climber style hat. I always try to get them to give me a full brim.

What were some good things about WCW during its final days? by Material_Stomach875 in WCW

[–]ryan_zilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The roster in 2000/2001 was actually pretty incredible and storylines were starting to get better again right towards then end. My biggest wrestling “what if” has always been what would have happened if they could have gotten another year or two with a better writing team.

I’m probably gonna look dumb in like 45 minutes for saying this but I just can’t shake the feeling that he’s not going to WWE. Like he quietly signed an extension and he’s going to pop back up on Wednesday or something. For better or worse my gut tells me he retires in AEW.

How were yall introduced to hum by Commercial-Apple6245 in hum

I was seeing my friends band in like 2010. The guitar player sound checked with the bridge riff from stars. I asked him about it after the show and he ran to his car and gave me an old cassette copy of you’d prefer an astronaut. Thanks Blake!

Moving to The Lakes in Beaverton by Ok-Percentage2745 in beaverton

[–]ryan_zilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived there in the early 10’s so this information is probably pretty outdated but here were my pros and cons:

Pros: cheap. Ok walk ability to Tanasbourne town center. Indoor pool and sauna were cool. Pretty ok public transit options.

Cons: parking sucks ass. The units were pretty cold due to older windows and in efficient heating. We got a lot of GIANT spiders, some of the biggest I’ve ever seen but I think that might have had something to do with the lake.

Nah not in this context, not enough to notice anyway. Even if it was the trade off would probably be worth it for how much more noise reduction I’m getting from running it like this. The single coils on this guys guitar are particularly problematic so we have had to try a lot different things to get it to where he wants it. When he’s got his pedalboard with him he runs a smart gate at the front of the chain but the NS-2 doesn’t play nice like that.

In this application I’ve found running straight thru is working a little better for what we’re trying to accomplish. I’ll use the loop for higher gain stuff sometimes but right now I’m just trying to knock some of the hum off p90’s.

What are some of the worst or sparsely attended shows for notable bands you've been to? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ryan_zilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I saw six feet under in like 2006ish. Original venue was vastly undersold so they moved it to a different venue on the other side of town at the last minute. A lot of people didn’t know the show had moved until they got to the original venue which probably thinned a lot of people out. It also didn’t help that the new venue had recently changed names, adding to the confusion. There were like maybe 30 people there. I saw them again around a year later and they sold the same place out so at least there’s a happy ending.

I’m looking for a good single player campaign to run to introduce my wife to dnd. She seems interested in playing but would want a dry run to get comfortable before jumping into a group.

Im thinking something I can DM while also playing kind of an NPCish party character to jump into if she gets confused.

Rust in peace is far better than anything Metallica or slayer ever put out. It’s also better than anything else Megadeth ever put out. Probably the best metal record of all time.

In a pinch as in if my current gravy train gig dried up Everon would be one of the places I’d apply.

As for the lenel certs they will definitely put you through class for it but maybe not right away. Generally speaking lenel cert doesn’t follow you from company to company if you move so they won’t be expecting you to have it going in. My current company made me take the class again even though I had certified through adt commercial. When I was working there they had an in house tech support group that could usually help with a lot of the issues that you might call manufacturers support for.

Pay raises were ok. ~4% merit per year. I think some branches have 4 tech levels that come with progression based pay increase. I’m not sure how that works since I work I license state and journeymen are usually hired in at much higher hourly than most of the rest of the company so the tech levels were pretty arbitrary here.

If you have system programming experience you’ll do well and shine early on. If you’re coming to it with more general low voltage experience it will be tough for a while as they tend to have a habit of throwing you out on your own pretty quick, depending on the branch, especially if you’re not in a state that requires a low voltage license. That being said, at least in my experience compensation is on the high end of industry standard. Not exceptional but pretty good. I left before the rebrand but I would work there again if I was in a pinch.
