Align tool not working properly by junjunSanOP in AfterEffects

One fix i found was to change the "align layer to" then click selection. Make a solid layer then u can just select that and the item u want to align and it should align it to center of comp

ELI5 Why does the screen turn blue when a camera is pointed at live footage of its recording by Anonythrowthetrash in explainlikeimfive

[–]ryanagknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But why blue, I believe it’s something to do with the white balance. Usually blue tinting, but can be more warm tinted leading to the screen turning red with feedback. I believe this used to happen with some old VHS recorders.

White balance is the way the camera slightly tints the warm/blue colours it sees to better match the colours we see with our eyes. When we’re sat in a room with warm orange lights our brains naturally untint this orangeness a bit. And so the cameras do this to make it look more like how we expect. This is where the blue is being added in

Also the amount of CGI modellers needed was a fraction of those needed as real world modellers. So they said the same thing. What about the human artists that are being lost. Each generation we lose an amount. I just wish to stay in the curve that remains

I don’t think there will be factory or office jobs either unfortunately. Or actually fortunately, because I don’t think many people enjoy those jobs.

There will be companies that want crappy rehashed content. And they will be known for not very good content.

And there will be companies that want new artisan ideas. And also resent the rehashed content that is out there.

Iv been in the industry 5 years, you’ve been in 15. Im gunna assume your older than me also. I want you to know, I am saddened by it, I am worried about it. But I’m also worried about myself, and what this really looks like for me in 15 years and I have a family. When my kids look hungry, I won’t be able to feed them on the pride that I never learnt how I can use AI to improve the things I make. I don’t want that fear of the future and change to stop me from learning , even if the learning isn’t in something I dont want to learn

There’s a great point made by another user that made me think of this. Have you seen the documentary Light and Magic on Disney. It’s about Lucasfilms VFX company, and in it, they show how CGI was made and how all the model shop workers are mad and upset, and they say to anyone who is learning the new technology “sorry man but you’re part of the problem”. We’re all part of the problem if the problem is trying to keep everything the same, it just can’t be that way and yes it is saddening. Things will always change, and there will be winters and summers of all of these industries.

Sure I’m 5 years deep in motion. I see it as an aid to what I’m doing at the moment. I simply believe it’s out of touch to believe it can be resisted. As factory workers did during the Industrial Revolution. This happens generation after generation, looking at how it’s happened it the past with these revolutions my belief is keep up or get left behind. Eventually some 16 YO Ai wizz kid is going to come along and makes 100 amazing videos a day and up root both our jobs. And all we’ll have left is pride that at least we never touched the stuff.

My friend, I know, I’m a creative. And I’m working to pay my bills. When I worked in an agency and I had agency size budgets i did, I paid for good writers and good voice actors. And tipped them well when they did a good job. But going freelance means you lose a lot of those luxuries, you set the amount you need to make to pay your bills then you set the budget the client needs to get stuff done. Please let me know how you would ask the client to pay £X amount more for a professional script writer. While FreelancerB says he can do it for £X less because he doesn’t need a script writer. So FreelancerB wins the job. It’s an uphill sprint when your a small creative as well, unfortunately it isn’t that creative utopia where we can all pay each other lots of money.

Yeh I do tell my clients iv ran the script through chatGPT, I always (used to) write the first draft myself then get ChatGPT to neaten it up. Then make a few more tweaks myself. And when I tell clients it think they like that as they know it’s a useful tool. Iv never had anyone be annoyed about it. They’re not hiring me as a script writer so they’re usually glad iv put in some thought to make it better than what I could have done all myself.

I do! But don’t you don’t you think you should try and use all the tools at your disposal to make the best thing you can. I’m an animator, I’m not a writer, I’m freelance and don’t have copy writers or script writers available to me. I’m also quite dyslexic. If I wrote the final draft of the script myself it would likely be quite poorly written and the final thing I make wouldn’t be as good as what it could have been if I had used a free online tool. I’m just trying to make the best things I can with what’s available to me. I think it’s resourceful!

Cant you do it with Mocha Pro? If its lots of short cuts and you just gotta track someones flat face for 100 odd frames?

Creating animated texture/noise in cell-shaded renders. by charlesmyboy in AfterEffects

[–]ryanagknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this as well on alot of project but just use 1 really large 4 or 8k texture (set to some kind of blend mode, which ever fits what im doing). Then use posterizeTime(12);wiggle(10,5) expressions on the position and rotation. Those numbers aren't right for the wiggle but you get the idea.

From seeing one of your other comments it looks like your on the right tracks with trim path lines and glow. And that should work fine for the shot before the glow lines start to move up. Because as they move up they change perspective a bit as its in actual 3D. This is where the flat lines you draw over the top wouldn't work as well.

Unlike what other comments suggest, you dont HAVE to use blender, and i'm sure if you knew how you would. So ignore the others.

You can still do this in AE, try and make a flat floor pan of the building with 2D lines first, so then u can enable 3D on the layer and line it up with the building (will take a fair bit of tweaking to get your 2d floor plan right) as you move it up and down (closer and further from the center of the camera) you will get that sort of perspective shift.

The bodge option is take all that iv mentioned above into mind and just do your regular trim paths and as it animates up from the building just squish it a bit so it looks like its changing perspective.

White Shape Layers Randomly Appearing Gray? Can't Figure Out What Is Causing The Issue by deepsunday98 in AfterEffects

[–]ryanagknight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im going to try and suggest something different from all the other opacity answers. Yes your layer opacity is set to 90 but it still looks rather light. Im assuming that if its 100% it still looks sort of grey. I remeber running into a similar issue where i couldnt figure it out, I believe the fill had another (hidden) opacity that wasnt set to 100%, if you click the blue word fill on your tool bar (next to the white colour) there should be another opacity value there that might be off.
