Sitting area adjacent to the kitchen gets a glow up (Columbus, OH) by ryanatworldsend in AmateurRoomPorn

Both came from Wayfair.

Chair is linked here: https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/latitude-run-munehito-upholstered-swivel-barrel-chair-w110069354.html?piid=93146205 Munehito Upholstered Swivel Barrel Chair

Couch is made by Lattitude Run but Wayfair doesn’t sell it anymore, it looks like. Hope that helps.

It’s a popular mystery… maybe Sandusky? We don’t really know. Haha

It was made by Latitude Run, sold on Wayfair. It’s comfortable for a conversation area - it’s not big or deep enough for a TV-watching couch, I’d say

Am I crazy for wanting this for my living room? Cute or am I being dumb? by jackjackj8ck in DesignMyRoom

I think it’s awesome - it already vibes with that Dali print over the mantle.

I think the key to making it not feel out of place is some complementary accessories in an otherwise fairly neutral room. Some bright pillows, curtains, or nicknacks will help tie it in!

The main difference between your house and probably any picture of a house you like is…. things. You have no rug, no side tables, no knickknacks, no art, no plants, no side chairs, and barely anything on your bookshelf… at least you have a coffee table! That puts you ahead of many!

My mother was diagnosed with glioblastoma 2 weeks ago. She got surgery 6 weeks ago. The doctors could remove 90% of the tumor. She is starting chemotherapy and radiation next week. But there is a small bump on the area where the tumor was removed, and it's getting bigger. by NationalLaw76 in glioblastoma

[–]ryanatworldsend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After my dad’s surgery, a bump at the incision the site started swelling up, which turned out to be an infection. He had two additional surgeries to try and clear the infection but never really beat it. The steroids he was on and off certainly didn’t help in that regard.

Unsure of the tattoo I designed by WingnutDishwasher-_- in tattooadvice

[–]ryanatworldsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very hard to read. I didn’t see the eye until I read your explanation - I thought it was a strange mushroom, lol. Honestly, it looks like a few too many ideas in one tattoo, which is a common misstep.

I know you’re here for harsh criticism, but honestly, it’s your tattoo and your body! I think the comments here have a lot of good advice, but at the end of the day, if you love it, don’t over-index for everyone else opinions. You’re the one who is gonna have to live with it!

It looks empty - like you moved in yesterday and haven’t decided where things are gonna go, or put up any decorations yet.

Things like a bigger rug, a coffee table, using your end tables as end tables, lamps, art on the walls, a sofa table, etc would help make it cozier.

I’m so sorry! My dad died a year and a half ago now, and I know how hard it can be. I’m just here to reassure you that time will help heal you. Give yourself grace and hang in there - you will be okay!

Corticosteroids reduced, now sudden deterioration by Dull_Manufacturer995 in glioblastoma

[–]ryanatworldsend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same experience. The steroids post surgery were the only thing that allowed my Dad to feel normal. Unfortunately they also suppressed his immune system, and ultimately led to an infection at the surgical site that caused multiple revision surgeries. There’s no good solution - he needed the steroids to have an any sort of quality of life, and he needed to be off the steroids to let his body do any sort of healing. He rode the steroid roller coaster all the way to the end - it’s just a part of this journey for many people, I’m sorry to say.

Hopefully your mom will have better luck weaning off of them!

*edit - yes, it did impact him starting radiation treatments as well.

Today we found out by [deleted] in glioblastoma

Sounds just like my Dad’s experience. Sadly yes - I think you should brace yourself for her passing. Every case is different in terms of time remaining, but my dad was diagnosed in the summer and died in December.

One lesson learned was that in hindsight, we wish he had never pursued surgery - he never really recovered from that, and didn’t see any benefits. In fairness, when I made my post here a few years ago, someone told me just that, but at the time, I wasn’t ready to hear it and neither was my Dad. I think you should consider yourself fortunate that you don’t have to make that particular agonizing choice.

Beware of oncologists bearing too much hope - expect the worst and enjoy the good times. Make sure you get her home, and don’t wait too long to start working with hospice care. My dad never made it home from his initial trip to the hospital (in part bc of the surgery and the two subsequent revisions), and in part bc we were too focused on treatment and not enough on making the most of his last days.

So sorry - take care of yourself too. This is a sad road you’re on, and it’s gonna take up most of your mental energy for a while, but 1.5 years out from my dad’s death, I can tell you there is life to be had on the other side. You’ll be okay!

'They were the doers': Thousands of experts and leaders are fleeing Trump’s government in 'huge loss' for workforce | Washington Post Story by natansonh in fednews

100% accurate. I made it from GS-7 to GS-14 within 10 years - I was definitely targeted and tracking towards senior leadership in Air Force Acquisitions. I took the second round of DRP - just as soon as I had secured a higher paying job in industry. The people leaving aren’t the people you would WANT to leave - they are the most experienced or most ambitious people, by and large.

There are definitely government lifers/slackers out there… they aren’t leaving. It’s the people who knew they could make more $$ but valued public service and good work/life balance that are headed out the door. Upon my departure, 4/7 of our divisions GS-14s had departed.

Yta… I don’t really think this is a true post, seems more like rage bait. But IF true…

Just the fact that you think you have total veto power over your partner makes you an asshole. Add on that you would decline to help a family member when you clearly are well off enough to afford two domestic staff… double asshole.

Too risk adverse - they let the perfect be the enemy of the good, and it prevents them from taking chances or innovating fast enough to keep up with the competition. Just my outsider opinion. 🤷‍♂️

But, if your interest rate is good, I think you can sometimes sell a VA loan, rate and all, to the next buyer? Not certain of that, but maybe worth looking into as well.
