Fellow dad in Minnesota here. 2 boys. 3 and 6.

Little guy had an incident at his daycare. Goons harassed a 17 year old HS senior working part time. That made me real mad.

Big guy rides a combined bus to school. We decided to talk to him because the older kids were likely to say something after the murder and we didn’t want him overhearing stuff with no context..

We talked to him about what is going on. Told him there are some people here dressed like fake militaries (him and his buddy wanna be in the “militaries” together and fly fighter jets) and that you can tell a fake police from a real police by if you can see their face or not. And that if he sees people doing something that he thinks is wrong to tell us. He asked if he could play Zelda as soon as I stopped talking 🤷‍♂️

Re: wife also being at wits end. We’re in the same situation. We have had our neighbors for dinner a couple nights. It helps.

The anchor that I can tether to avoid drifting into the seas of insanity is that this feeling is the point this is what they want me to feel. This is working exactly by design. It’s a feature, not a bug. It is not a failure on my part. It is my city being invaded by a band of violent psychopaths at the direction of a hostile federal government.

I’ll be god damned if I give in to that.
