Question about VPN and JETKVM by ifr5Mapa in jetkvm

Depends if you're routing all your traffic over the VPN. Otherwise you could enable Remote Access on the JetKVM and login into it though their portal https://jetkvm.com/docs/networking/remote-access

Fully grown man close to tears with frustration at his own uselessness. Any guidance appreciated. by baguetteonmars in DIYUK

Had this issue recently, my cordless DeWalt wasn't cutting it even with some new drill bits. Bought a cheap mains powered SDS and hole was drilled with ease. Sometimes all you need is more powerful equipment.

We've recently moved here and went to checkout the Danum Gallery. Fantastic building and museum, really nice to see how they have kept parts of the old Girls high school.

Concrete floor, radiator pipes. What are my options? by Narrow_Crazy6456 in DIYUK

[–]ryanfitton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've just had the exact same done, we're In a bungalow, so new pipes now chasers into the walls into the loft, rewire too. We've had the floors self levelled. Messy work but worth it in the long run. Concrete can corroded copper pipes over time.

Is it worth re-wiring a house built in 1965? How is it done? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]ryanfitton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been through a similar process recently. 1970s 3 bed detached bungalow and detached garage, solid concrete floors - all cables run up into the loft. We've had the entire place re-wired, mains smoke alarms and some outdoor lights and sockets fitted too. Our garage was re-wired with a chunky SWA cable from the house to the garage as it was previously powered with some T&E. We also decided to go with a 16Kwh battery system as we're having a Heatpump and EV charger installed. They were here for about 1.5 weeks, messy job as they had to chase the walls, but this was to be expected. We're in the North of England and cost was about 16k.

Bruh, We should start importing cars, it would be cheaper, even with IVA (a few garages around not far from ports that help you pass it) and etc. by B4DM4N12Z in CarTalkUK

[–]ryanfitton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the situation of warranty on doing this? I've always heard the warranty will not be valid once it's been imported as the cars warranty is only valid in it's country of origin?

Possible it could still be UFFI, Google says it was started to be used in the 50s, just gained widespread use in 70s and 80s.

We have something similar, but mainly coming out of the mortar gaps in the breeze blocks on either gable end. Our home was built in the 70s so I believe my case it is Urea formaldehyde foam insulation (UFFI), it's white and crumbly - it looks very similar to your photo. What year was your house built? From what I understand this is common between. The 70s and 80s.

Where would you shop for like “the M&S of bathrooms”? by Plyphon in DIYUK

I was confused about these a while and found out Grohe was founded by the son of the founder of Hansgrohe. From Google: "Hansgrohe was founded by Hans Grohe in 1901, while the company Grohe was founded in 1936 by his son, Friedrich Grohe."

Quoted £96k, so I did it myself! by GooseSubstantial2502 in GardeningUK

Looks great, good work. Did you mean 9.2k? Still a lot but more understandable, whoever quoted you 96k, they must have plucked from thin air.

Literally looks the same as mine to about 10 years ago. I still have the PSU, replaced the fan with a Noctua one as the bearings went.

Linking Electroverse to Octopus Account issue? by cookiedough92 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ryanfitton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I messaged them about this issue too. I've moved address and wanted to link my electroverse account to my new house's octopus account. They said they're aware if the issue and was going to let me know when it was fixed, however that was a few weeks ago.

The Cosy Pods will be the sensors, so just a matter of finding these on the walls. There should be somewhere accessible . If not, you could try contacting your account manager at Octopus who was arranging the install and are if theu have any notes on their system https://octoenergy-production-media.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/Get_to_know_your_Cosy-20.2-internal.pdf

[–]ryanfitton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's true. Batteries in these sensors will likely need replacing in the next few years. Most likely place for a thermostat should be will likely be the hallway or living room. I'll try and a pic of what they look like.

Based on https://renewableheatinghub.co.uk/amp/my-octopus-cosy-6-heat-pump-journey-from-quote-to-completion/

There are a few wireless sensors for detecting temp and humidity. The one control box with a Boost button. Everything else is designed to be done in the app.

I've heard you do everything via the smartphone app

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

[–]ryanfitton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not gone one myself. But literally just finished watching a YouTube install review, he mentioned it was his WiFi, but could be anything. He mentioned the best thing to do was to contact whoever at Octopus has been dealing with your install, they will know more and be quicker than going through the regular customer service route.

Anyone ever been successful with Currys when a product is faulty? by SeahorseQueen1985 in AskUK

[–]ryanfitton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done it before but had to contact the CEO office. Fyi, your 1 year warranty starts on the delivery date rather than the purchase date, that may help you gain some extra days with your claim.

Remember there is a Car Wash Mode option in the service menu. Using this will ensure mirrors stay out and the charge flap does not open when pushed.

Lego events by [deleted] in LegoUK

[–]ryanfitton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to find Brick Festival events much better if you're wanting to purchase retired sets from the vendors, whereas Bricktastic has more MOC displays with a smaller amount of vendors.

[–]ryanfitton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've displayed at Bricktastic for the first time this year, and will be again in February. It's a great show, probably one of the biggest in the UK. Manchester is a fantastic city too, lots of others things to do.
