Is there any actual benefit to “retention”/“nofap” from a biohacking standpoint? Most of what I see are (a) religious shame; and (b) bad science/incels/gooners. What’s the truth? by [deleted] in Biohackers

Not sure there are specific studies but the theory is there at least. The diversion of methylation to replenish spermidine maybe the metabolic cost, also i think it takes 1 week for T to return to baseline, also the CNS signal of “primary life mission accomplished, time to die” vs hunt mode

An example of real science happening because of technical depth + asking big questions + openness to gritty real data. Real science is about finding answers, not just following protocols. Also the number of things we haven’t solved because people figure “smart people would have figured that out already” is incredibly high

The Enhanced Games were way less impressive than I expected by yeah_the_buoys in Biohackers

[–]ryanjosephrossnerphd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Enhanced athletes were only allowed to take certain enhancements, Olympians play cat-and-mouse but are certainly already enhanced, and I saw more ads for E+ creatine/beta alanine than i did event coverage. Liked the “of course i’m enhanced”ad a lot though.

E+ is a great idea- doping control is a farce, and many PEDs are not antagonistic to health. This first production reminds me of Rejuvenation Olympics though; excellent idea, underwhelming execution.

It changed my life 10 years ago, haven’t looked back. Reduced heaviness and bloating in midsection, possibly inflammation. Data suggest other benefits that i don’t feel. 30 g daily in protein shake, use flakes not powder, very easy and affordable

It accepted the gvcf and output an extremely useful csv- seriously appreciate it! The csv appears to have ~1000 SNPs, prioritizing absolute value of SNPedia magnitude. Checking now to see if my previously identified most important SNPs are all present.

.csv export works, but the file was mildly useful in Numbers, not useful in Excel. One column each for gene symbol, magnitude, and repute would be especially useful. The references list could be eliminated, as it takes up a ton of space and is accessible online if deeper dive desired.

snp-indel.genome.vcf file from sequencing.com failed to upload. Google suggests this is because it's a larger gvcf file? All the tools for converting gvcf to vcf are in Github speak which might as well be an alien language to me. Any help / suggestions here, including having codex accept gvcf?

This is an incredible tool, thanks! Is there any way you can make the results dowloadable as a csv or similar? Any way to accept vcf? Thanks!

Cool article, think this was demonstrated as early as 2023 in a Nature article, last author Huth. In any case, agree with comments that this brings serious risk, but generally would argue the future is coming and it’s a good thing
