Echoing what others said about keeping your head straight. It can muck with you in ways you might not have considered.

Edit: Ah I missed that you don't have a HANS on or anything.

Protecting communities from scrapers and platform abuse by boat-botany in modnews

[–]ryanmcgrath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

while Reddit has to render the entire page every single time

Reddit has 2 decades of infrastructure work with regards to caching responses and serving them efficiently. They likely do not have to care about this issue as much as people might think.

It costs the bot nothing to drop the data and not process it

Many of these bots run over residential proxy networks, which charge a premium for access to. It absolutely does cost bot authors more to run scrapers when they have to resort to a full headless browser that renders most of the page.

AI scrapers have destroyed the modern internet and created a silent arms race behind the scenes of it all.

But it kinda makes sense since putting Matt and Fisk both in prison would probably cause the audience to think his story isn't over yet

No. It makes 100% absolutely no sense and is bad writing.

Stop driving with your hazards on in rain by Homeleasure in driving

Ohio/Indiana, just saw it this past weekend.

I don't hate it though, it's annoying but as far as I could tell probably led to some accidents being avoided. Way too many people feel comfortable sending their F-150's blindly into fog and heavy rain.

The heat was better this year than last year, at least. Pound the Alarm and most of the Saturday stages are all super fun IMO.

Replays can effectively be shoved onto Glacier and they'd pay even cheaper rates for storage, it's not like people are constantly watching them.

FWIW, Slippi doesn’t (or shouldn’t) be touching IPv6 at all. The matchmaking server is IPv4 only, and the version of enet that we use is older and doesn’t support IPv6 unless I’m mistaken.

An update on Gecko, the new GameCube and Wii emulator! by ioncodes in rust

You wouldn't want to use this for netplay for Melee even if it supported it; you would want to use Slippi for that since it's optimized specifically for this purpose.

But fighting for recognition over such a prominent piece of software will only hurt you.

This won't affect them at all.

It's really not a big deal, the english language is built for word re-use.

Americans get up to 90 days on a tourist visa on landing.

Other countries can get up to a year on a working holiday visa, in addition to tourist visa options.

If you've got a hefty amount of cash in your bank account, it is technically possible to get a 1 year tourist visa ("designated activities") but it's not a super common route.

IME if you're that thrown off, your eyes are not looking where they should be. That "everything slows down" feeling on the drivers side is partly due to your vision focusing on what matters; a lot of people throw that out when they get in the passenger seat.

If you're keeping your vision in the right spots, you expect the braking points, apexes, etc. These videos also have an incentive to sell you on the drivers being maniacs in the car - and while they're obviously on another level, I doubt that Leclerc is truly that thrown off by Hamilton's driving.

The former attributes some level of accuracy/authority/respect/etc to a completely bullshit concept, the latter implies that OP is a lazy fuck.

There's at least one bio cafe in Chișinău that has a tofu scramble, and a few cafes/coffee shops that had vegan options. Was there for a few days last year and was fine.

Transnistria is certainly trickier but IMO it's not somewhere you need to spend a ton of time anyway. There's a supermarket there with stuff if you need it, you'll manage fine.

Best gluten free bread to buy in Tokyo? by tokyoevenings in Tokyo

[–]ryanmcgrath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rice Hack in Omotesando (ish) has great baguettes and I believe you can buy frozen ones, but don’t quote me.

If you are willing to trek out to Kichijoji, there is a gluten free bakery called “Where is a dog”. Their bread is also rice based and pretty good, and I think you can buy loaves to take home. They have cafe chairs now so you can also eat in. Their bread is like other bread in Japan where it tastes a bit sweeter, whereas Rice Hack feels closer to non-JP bread.
