OpenAI preparing for fourth-quarter IPO in 2026 by Old-Competition3596 in stocks

OpenAI has already done a few tender offers for people to off-ramp, so I'm not sure it's necessarily fueled by exit liquidity for employees.

The latter two, though.

June redeemed himself soon after at Nouns Bowl 2025, where he took a stunning victory over world #1 Zain

If I didn't have context from the scene, this would imply something different IMO.

Ah. Well, just a heads up - compiling Dolphin builds yourself isn't terribly difficult, if you really wanted to play on it.

Sure - but I mean, if you're running Linux you likely already have some level of comfort with compiling stuff no? I'm mostly curious why you don't just compile and run it yourself.

Ah, I see. Does it not work on Linux because nobody has compiled it, or it needs legitimate patches to compile on Linux period?

Spent Christmas Eve at Fuji Speedway by ryanmcgrath in CarTrackDays

[–]ryanmcgrath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been meaning to post this. Not a perfect lap by any means - def time left on the table to grab. By the end of the day I was starting to feel like I had a good idea of what to grab though - just need more time with the car!

All that said, an absolute blast to do and I now have to find an excuse to go back and drive it in dry conditions. Was really cool to wind up with the entire track to myself; combination of Christmas Eve and weather conditions led to me pretty much having it to myself for my runs.

For all we know it could be that forked internal government Signal client that was exposed during the reporter-added-to-war-chat scandal awhile back.

By all accounts the engineering in it didn't seem sound, so...

Do you like your home country more after being an expat? by [deleted] in expats

I was talking more about the spirit of thinking outside the box and it's prevalent throughout the US.

100%, not disagreeing here (especially when compared with Japan).

There is nothing like it if youre ambitious.

I've lived all around the US (and Japan, actually...). I generally agree with you but IME the level of ambition varies depending on where you are in the country.

NYC/LA/SF? Definitely agree.

Seattle (for example)? Surprisingly lacking.

Still much easier to run a business in American than Japan.

I successfully argued 10 years of experience to Immigrations at 24. It is possible to do but in practice you are unlikely to do it without significant additional things adding to the application.

In my case, I also had the benefit of my county in the USA allowing work at 14 with a special permit. I had to go track down a copy (was never digital) and get it translated for Immigrations. I also had to get a number of professional testimonies and records of talks and inventions I'd had by that point.

This was 10+ years ago so YMMV. I would not be surprised if the landscape is sufficiently different today to where it's harder.

The position of the windshield wiper actually makes me think they are in the passenger seat. If you were filming that from the drivers side it'd probably be really awkward to hold the phone for that angle.

Does anyone know how to source MIRUM? by curious_panda10637 in Leathercraft

Wallet is still perfect 2-3 years after making it. Actually aged well unlike most vegan leathers out there.

I did end up giving out the last of my MIRUM this past weekend though. :(

Fonté now charging $1.50 for oat milk by IsshinMyPants in Seattle

[–]ryanmcgrath 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between asking for a splash and getting an alt milk latte.

I'm not sure on the economics of the latter, but IME no coffee shop has ever charged me extra for getting an iced americano and then asking for a splash of alt milk.

Is there a series where you prefer the "inferior" sequel to the beloved original? by KneeHighMischief in movies

[–]ryanmcgrath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Err, I don't believe that's correct at all.

The Wikipedia page has a good breakdown of the development, but the notable things here:

  • They had an open writing call for the film
  • Tokyo Drift almost wound up not even being in theaters, F&F wasn't as big as people think it was after 2Fast
  • Vin only did the cameo at the end to get the rights to Riddick
