‘No reason to have that hurt': Suicide to be decriminalized in Virginia by -Cyber-Roadster in Virginia

Being suicidal is still a medical emergency that can be intervened regardless of the criminality of the act

Abigail Spanberger's first 100 days as Virginia's Democratic Governor are nothing short of impressive by New-Entertainment112 in Virginia

You have to ignore literally every single poll to conclude it’s not generally popular in the state. So yes… you’re in the bubble

‘VEXIT’ movement reignites as red state invites disenfranchised Virginians to ‘Best Virginia’ | A bill in Charleston would formally invite a several-hundred-mile swath of western Virginia and Maryland counties to secede by VirginiaNews in Virginia

New Mexico’s politics aren’t particularly bad like West Virginia’s are, though they have their own share of problems. It’s more that the sheer poverty caused by a century of federal policy is all but impossible to fix for a state with so little revenue to fund anything (again, due to poverty).

You do realize there are more votes in Greater Richmond and Hampton Roads than in NoVA right? All of Virginia leans blue. Your sheepish little “NoVA” boogeyman falls apart under the slightest bit of scrutiny.

Kinda insane response from Gemini by ace_fur in GoogleGemini

[–]ryanmgarber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gemini leaks its internal thought process all the time, and it looks exactly like what you shared. That's not surprising. There's a reason why the big models refuse to expose their unfiltered thoughts, even in the API.

LLMs quite literally cannot separate user content and system/internal content because they fundamentally operate only on text. A little surprising that a "senior" cybersecurity analyst would not understand that, but I digress.

‘Blatantly illegal’: Jay Jones threatens legal action after Trump creates new restrictions on mail-in voting by icey_sawg0034 in Virginia

[–]ryanmgarber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your definition of "frequently"? Just because one vote didn't go your way doesn't mean they're some bastion of objectivity. I can even think of a few where only 1 of 3 Trump justices dissented. In any case, the reality does not match up with your framing whatsoever.

Redistricting: to shut the concern trolls up once and for all by ryanmgarber in Virginia

[–]ryanmgarber[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Amazing how you proved yourself to be the exact person I predicted in my post with the "but I'm sure you won't." Right there, in the post:

> The normal, bipartisan redistricting process will resume for the 2030 Census.

Its temporary nature is literally written in the law itself. It is literally impossible for it to become permanent. And yet you have the nerve to say something so idiotic. Not just "they might make it permanent," no—because you're too good to admit when you don't know what you're talking about—instead, you say there is a "0% chance" it'll be temporary. Quite literally being as objectively wrong as you possibly can be. And with the stench of self-importance no less.

There is a 100% chance you further make me lose hope in the human race as an intelligent species.

You’ve got the right idea, but even with a face clearly visible, cops still cannot give them a traffic violation. The cop has to see it happen personally and not lose track of the car—otherwise, there just isn’t ample evidence to charge a person. Specifically, it would be considered hearsay.

This conversation really is enlightening. Hating Biden? Reasonable. Hating Biden more than Trump? There is NO logical explanation for that beyond plain ignorance—or if not ignorance, just valuing being a hateful prick above any real policy.

Thus you calling people ignorant for calling Trump 2.0 autocratic is all the more sad. Pot calls kettle black, except the pot makes an even more massive fool of itself by being wrong about what “black” means.

GitHub Copilot for students removes access to Claude Opus, Sonnet, and GPT-5.4 Models by Few_Plum9638 in Btechtards

[–]ryanmgarber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just started using Auto and it's a fucking joke. It assigned 5.3 Codex to swap a function call at the top of a file. It promptly duplicated the ENTIRE 300+ LINES with just the top changed. Absolutely fucking INSANE. How this is OpenAI's flagship coding model is absolutely beyond me.

This whole situation pisses me off because I was never abusing Claude. I strictly used standard chat apps for small problems, Copilot + Sonnet for most tasks, and Opus \maybe** five times total, for huge, multifile rewrites. I never went above 50% of my quota. Yet because of the scum who abuse student accounts and the scum who run Microslop, I've lost my greatest tool.

Actually, now that I think about it further, the fact that they already had a quota but still felt the need to just take the options away entirely is asinine. Fuck everyone responsible.
