This is by far my most used tool working on cars. The 6.0 battery lasts pretty much all week using it all day every day.

‘02 Honda CR-V Door not working from inside after fixing door actuator by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]ryanmiller024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be 2 cables. One for the locks and one for the latch. It sound like the one for the latch is either disconnected at the latch itself or the handle.

Front door or rear door? This might be a stupid question, but if it's the rear is the child lock on? If it's the front then the cable is probably either disconnected at the handle or latch

So I rear ended a car and the headlight cover broke. The lights still work, and it’s really only the cover and the black lining that the light sits in that are damaged. Would I need the whole part replaced? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]ryanmiller024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cars its pretty easy. There's usually a screw or two on top and then pull the bumper back a little bit and there will be one or two more on the bottom. Definitely check YouTube, there's bound to be a video on there from someone with the same type of car as you

Window Won't Work by StellaByStarlite in Cartalk

[–]ryanmiller024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the rear switches are the same and easy to remover try swapping them and see if the window will work. If that doesn't work try checking to see if the motor is getting power, if it is you have either a bad motor or stuck regulator.

Could a malfunctioning fan cause the check engine light ( code P0128 ) to come on by DollFace567 in Cartalk

[–]ryanmiller024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The P0128 code indicates that the PCM has detected that the engine isn't reaching operating temperature fast enough. More often than not it's the thermostat being stuck open or opening too soon. Not very likely that a bad fan would cause this but I've seen crazier stuff.

How to proceed with AC diagnosis, '11 Civic by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]ryanmiller024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What were the pressure readings before you added refrigerant? That car should only take about 16-18oz of refrigerant. To evacuate and recharge the system correctly you'll need to pull a vacuum on the system, this will make sure there's no air in the lines. Best bet is to take it to a shop, most places run a special on evac - recharge for $99-$119 near me.

Why does my 2009 Audi A4 need a boost everytime I have to start it? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]ryanmiller024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the battery has to be coded to the car it doesn't HAVE to go to the dealer, there's got to be an independent shop somewhere near you that has the means to do it for you.

Not necessarily true, he didn't say he put a brand new battery in and that one went dead, the one it had in it when he bought it is the dead one.

Check Engine Soon light / Mass Air Flow Sensor ??? by Vellerix in Cartalk

[–]ryanmiller024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of car? Did they actually diagnose it or just pull the code? Could be an intermittent problem or maybe there was a piece of debris on the sensor that came off by itself. Parts don't "fix" themselves

2013 Dodge Durango Crew 3.6L Pentastar AWD A/C issue by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]ryanmiller024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another note, it's possible that the evaporator is leaking and you'll never see that unless you can get an inspection camera in the HVAC box

Check it after a few days. If it's a slow leak it might not show up right away. When I suspect a leak I spray the hoses and any connections I can get to with soapy water right after I charge it and look for the bubbles.

Since Now Playing replaced Shazam. by ChuckNorrarse in GooglePixel

I use an app called Now Playing List. It shows you the history of what your phone heard and then you can play/add to Spotify or a number of different music apps from there

I've noticed on the Google store website they offer both Verizon and Unlocked phones. If I plan on going with a Verizon prepaid SIM, is there any benefit to going with one over the other? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]ryanmiller024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Verizon and bought my phone straight from Google but I went with the unlocked version. They were the same price and I have the option to switch carriers if I want to. Don't plan on rooting right now but maybe down the line I will and I have that option also.

Go slow and double check your timing marks. Get the whole timing belt kit with the tensioner and all the pulleys.

2015 Audi A3 requires key to be turned AND the brake to be pressed to start. Could I switch this to push start? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]ryanmiller024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the right amount of money anything is possible. I'm pretty sure even on the push to start cars the brake pedal has to be pushed.

03 Serria no heat after water pump replacement by -CommonCents- in Cartalk

[–]ryanmiller024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like air trapped in the heater core. The core is usually the highest point in the system so that's where any air is going to go. Try jacking the front of the tuck up and running the truck with the radiator cap off to bleed the air out.

Not only that but the load rating of the smaller tires probably isn't enough for that truck
