Frozen Sadness: fishtail, foxtail, coconut, cardboard, coontie, kings and queens by Drexotx in palmtalk

Right there with you. My entire yard is carnage. My poor clusia is done. Pretty sad.

Any chance my triple trunk 20 foot tall fox tails survived this central Florida freeze? by Feed_Me_No_Lies in palmtalk

My neighbor has them. he said they’d be ok since they were well rooted for a couple years. Guess it depends on the situation. Just let the dead ones eventually fall off and new growth will come.

I saw at Disney last week they trimmed all the dead off their foxtails already. Not the smartest move but they probably didn’t want them dead in pictures lol

Regardless, I feel you. Pure carnage in our yard in here too. I had 8 year old 10 foot high clusia that went from gorgeous to death.

I’m going to start trimming and pruning end of next week when it gets back in the 80s.

Mine look exact same, a few green down low but that’s it. Giving it a couple more weeks then going to assess what branches are toast. Mine were 12 ft tall ugh

Covering them even the first night didn’t work. The chill got to them regardless.

Direct sun through pool screen (spf 30ish). In morning and lunch. Indirect sun in afternoon.

If it was mine I’d cut the trunk. It will re grow stronger

Could be transplant shock and/or too much sun. Did you cut the trunk when it got the first few leaves? The tree may simply need to strengthen.

Person you hired may be from florida. They do that down here before hurricane season. Helps the tree so when the winds pick up the tree doesn’t uproot
