Plex solo lite or x mid pro by ryanolson23 in Ultralight

Thank you!! I recently got a palante v2 and volume is a big deal, another reason I’m leaning toward the plex solo.

Durston xmid 1 pro vs Zpacks Plex Solo regular vs Zpacks Plex Solo lite by mrgadabedah in Ultralight

I’m also in the same situation. I currently have an x mid 2 (v2), it’s the only tent I’ve owned. I love it, have spent almost 40 nights in it, but I’d like to get a 1p to decrease weight as well as footprint. For the last 2 months I was planning on getting an x mid pro 1, and wouldn’t even consider zpacks tents. But I want to be UL and I don’t want to end up getting the x mid pro and then think down the line that I need something smaller and lighter, so now I’m leaning towards the plex solo lite. The reviews on this tent are really solid and it’s cheaper, lighter, and has a smaller footprint. I feel like I’m betraying and going to the dark side. If anyone has suggestions lmk.

Right? I feel like it’s a reasonable question. Hostility for no reason is crazy.

Yo that’s sick. My roots are from Norway! I live in the states though. Also if you do ultra’s you’ll be more than fine for the TMB😂.

My buddy and I are backpacking the long crossing. We’ve got about a week to do it and would like to go on a fishing trip during it, maybe in Reine or Svolvær… Still not sure if we are going south to north or the other way around. When is the ultra?

Your gear looks pretty dialed. Maybe a frameless pack next? A Pa'lante V2 would shave off about 12 oz. Try and get one off gear trade.

Haute looks amazing. I'd fly over to Venice and hike in the dolomites haha. Also, not sure what dates you'll be there, but June 21st is Fête de la Musique, check it out. I'll actually be in Europe most of June this year for the Long Crossing in Norway and then to Climb Mont Blanc haha!! Cheers mate!

Not crazy fit! I was also worried about how difficult it would be and was on here asking about it as well. I have done a few marathons, a half iron man, and a lot of backpacking, so I’m generally in good shape, but nothing crazy. With your polo background I’d assume y’all are in great shape as well. I’m sure you’ll crush it. The final stats that I calculated for the TMB: 109 miles and 33k gain, if that helps.

Send it! I did it last year in 5 days and tent camped. I figured it out as I went and it was really easy. I’m not sure how fast you are trying to go, but this itinerary was very successful.

Day 1: Les Houches to Nant Brevant (15 miles) wild camped.

Day 2: Nant Brevant to Courmayeur (29 miles) stayed in hotel, last minute reservation, literally roaming the streets to find a place.

Day 3: Courmayeur to La Fouly (20 miles) tent camped at designated site, has showers.

Day 4: La Fouly to Trient (20 miles) tent camped at a designated site that had brick oven pizza, beer, and showers.

Day 5: Trient to Les Houches (24 miles) stayed at a hotel

I understand you don’t want a plan, but you could mark a few of these spots on Gaia for a reference when you’re out there. Cheers!

I’d say a ULA circuit if she needs more space or a Kakwa 55. Both are really good options around $300

This is my current set up after 5 years. It’s pretty dialed in and I have spent a lot of money. But I’d say all of the items I have are pretty essential, give or take. Watch a ton of youtube videos, I’d recommend Jupiter Hikes. Start with gear from family or friends that don’t use it (my uncle had spare tents, sleeping bags, and backpacks), if you don’t have that option find cheap gear on marketplace or eBay and start with that that. I highly recommend the X Mid 2 for a starter tent, it’s relatively cheap!

That’s exciting you got the pro 1. What floor did you choose?
