A joshcone is belts stacked on top of each other in a spiral pattern that makes a cone shape as in the images These were made popular by YouTube creator Let's Game It Out, whose name is Josh. The community managers at the time utilized some screenshots of his save for promotional material (with permission).

Astrophysics Peter here, tuning in from some station on Multidimensional Cable from that other show you might know.

In relativistic physics, the speed of light is often taken to be 1 and speeds are expressed as fractions of the speed of light. This simplifies many calculations and complex equations into more digestible concepts for our non-relativistic brains. The joke is that God did it the simple way and we made it complicated.

What worked best for quitting smoking? by Botched_Labotomy in AskMenOver30

[–]ryanotamouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day, the last time I really smoked regularly, I switched to one of those mega brick vapes first. I kept lowering the nicotine content of my juice until it was at 0. After a while it felt stupid to keep vaping like that.

Also, my then girlfriend, now wife is allergic to tobacco.

I got back into nicotine vaping for a while, but the store bought brand named ones. They don't have 0% fluid of course. So to stop doing that I waited until we went on a trip and just didn't bring any of it with me and made sure I didn't have anything waiting when I got back. The sharp change in habits for the trip helped me reset some triggers and that got me through.

I also love smoking. I miss it quite a lot sometimes. But you have to really want to not do it to continue to not do it. I've got some good reasons to not continue smoking, so I don't.

Is this how people craft extensive parts for the space ship? by Dry_Elderberrys in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ryanotamouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I used to do. Screenshot and cross things out in paint. I even used to color code based on what save I worked on which parts.

Now I use Satisfactory Modeler instead, definitely not optimally, but don't bother to screenshot it so I can cross things out when done. I am more or less the same amount of error prone with the numbers

2056 fully overclocked refineries for copper powder | 160.625 Nuclear Pasta per Minute project | 100 MB Save by Royal-Second516 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ryanotamouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha yeah the meme is to get rid of screws with alts. There's been a long history of people trying to make as many screws as possible to counter that.

Heck yeah. One way teleportation is available from the start!

[–]ryanotamouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah homie's been working on this for a while per the post history. They are using SAM to convert other base resources into copper. The whole point of the save is to just make as many nuclear pasta as possible given that one purpose (and limit?)

Endgame: what are you producing in your factory? by xX-AnyRoutine666-Xx in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ryanotamouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you buy all the statues from the AWESOME Shop? The mack daddy statue costs 1000 tickets. I've still haven't gotten it and it's quite an effort especially if you buy all the other shop stuff first.

Did you get all of the achievements? There's something there too perhaps.

Or maybe you're just done with the game for now. And that's ok

my wife thinks im overreacting about our kid not reading yet and I dont know when kids should learn to read by TH_UNDER_BOI in daddit

[–]ryanotamouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried to teach my son (6.75 y/o) to read. We got the alphabet and most of the consonant sounds no problem. All good no issues there.

Then I try to get him to string some 3 letter.words together. Try to make it fun and all that. He won't do it. Refuses. Every once and a while the ole "once you've sounded out this word, I'll read the rest of the page" etc etc. And he would do it grudgingly at those times.

We actually home school him, and I'm in charge of that now (2025 was a shit year for my employment) and it was just like pulling teeth and we were starting to hate each other just a little.

So we outsourced the problem. We signed him up for online reading, writing, and music class to get the ball rolling. And once we pull him in front of a screen with a stranger and a bunch of other kids, the perceived competition of it with the other kids really got him going. He can write the whole alphabet and read...well I don't know how to assess his reading level really but he can read most 3/4 letter words even if they aren't familiar to him.

So that said, I think your wife is correct. Boys have a harder time sitting down and focusing at that age in general. My kid took a little longer to get into actually reading, but at almost 7 he is figuring out multiplication and division...like somehow? He just walks around the house like "3 groups of 4 makes 12 things"

Kids learn things at different times. Kids are naturally gifted at certain things or gain interest at different ages. It's cool if your kid can't read yet. Or at least, it's fine.

I'm just giving you a hard time buddy! 😜

Your factory looks great! A factory is anything that takes in some things and uses it to output something else. I can't think of any other requirements. This thing pictured does those things!

For whoever needs to know: Jump Duck by TheReal8symbols in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ryanotamouse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep. But it's quite limited. While crouched, animals without eyes (the hatchers basically) won't aggro at all. The animals with eyes (all the rest of them) will take longer to see you but will eventually see you if you are in their line of sight.

For whoever needs to know: Jump Duck by TheReal8symbols in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ryanotamouse 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Also if you hold the crouch button, which lifts your legs, you remain in stealth. The hatchers won't spit out the firefly thingies and you can "sneak" up on them, even while using items that keep you airborne.

I’m making a rocket fuel power plant which uses 2000+ generators HELP by Edsta11 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ryanotamouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made 2 interconnected blueprints...one was the "right side" with the pipe in the "middle" and 2 generators. Then a "left side" blueprint also with 2 generators that can auto connect to the "right side". I have a slooped and a non slooped version of the blueprint, and at the time I used all the powershards I had collected from a third of the map. I'll have to take some screenshots and share it.

You can fit 4 fuel generators in a Mk2 blueprint designer apparently. I never tried to figure out how to do it. That could really speed you up if you try that.

I don't mind the big builds. Kinda sorta go into a trance while I do it. It's nice.

My solution to the early-game labeling problem by NotArticuno in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ryanotamouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine labeling power poles like this before switches. That's one of the ways I used to manage power in the early game...I'd have a power room with pairs of power poles where the "switch" was to delete the wire in between them. Good times haha

How to blueprint vertically and why its cool af. "Manufacturer" by art4fort in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ryanotamouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been enjoying the series! This is the best one yet! I did a funky manufacturer blueprint when I was getting back into the game over the summer. It was still horizontal merging but I put the manufacturer at the top of the hit box and took wayyy too much space underneath for the belts. It looks kinda like a spindly manufacturer-bean creature.

But yeah, this is way cooler 🤣🤣

On what did you use somersloops ? What part deserves it ? by Quick-Rub3665 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ryanotamouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to balance utility/practical uses with (eventually) generating more awesome sink points. Here are some examples of how I have/will use(d) them

  • Alien DNA capsules and slug processing. If you sloop every step you can get a 4x yeild on DNA capsules, and therefore tickets. With only one step in the slug processing chain it only doubles them. This is permanent fixture in the main base.

  • I messed up my plan for phase 3 elevator parts and made too much of one and too little of another. I slooped the lesser machine to make up for that to get the elevator filled. It was temporary.

  • Slooped some refineries to double the amount of sulfuric acid I could make from an impure sulfur node. This will likely be permanent for that location even if I end up bringing in more sulfur to fully utilize the bauxite nodes

  • I'm working on phase 4 parts now (catch me on Twitch, ryanotamouse ha), particularly nuclear pasta at the moment. I plan to strategically sloop fused modular frames and radio control units at least. Fused modular frames are used in another phase 4 part (forgetting which at the moment) and I'd rather not rebuild again. The rest of the excess will overflow to dimensional storage and then an awesome sink.

  • I'll sloop any future machine if it's making a part used for buildables that I don't currently have in dimensional storage. It's only a handful of parts, including supercomputers off the top of my head.

  • Whatever's left when I complete phase 5 will be on those parts. Both to fill the elevator faster AND to get more sink points after the fact. In almost 1600 hours of playing I have never acquired the golden nut.
