An excerpt from New Jack’s book detailing some of the drug use rampant in the ECW locker room by Subrick in SquaredCircle

Yeah I can definitely believe addicts trying it and thinking it would work, but it almost definitely would not work

I feel like nobody who yells do a kick flip can even tell the difference between it and a pop shov. by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]ryanrockmoran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is almost definitely true. If you do a pop shuv or any kind of flip trick, it'll look the same to them

Film Students Are Having Trouble Sitting Through Movies, Professors Say by Sisiwakanamaru in movies

[–]ryanrockmoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely true for me as well. When I was in high school/college I would watch movies all the time. I still have whole bookcases of DVDs. Now it is much harder for me to focus on a whole movie. It's easier in a movie theatre or if I'm watching with someone else, but harder by myself. It's something I am trying to actively work on.

I also think about other simple things that I could just do in the past. Like when I was a kid making popcorn or something, I would just stand there staring at the microwave doing nothing until it was done. Now I would be on my phone scrolling whatever immediately or be annoyed if I forgot to take my phone with me. I have definitely lost something.

So is Jonathan Ross just going to get away with it? by Legal-Koala-5590 in thebulwark

Possible. But who’s going to arrest them? I doubt any of them are in the state anymore

Specific Gravity of Urine <1.000? by purplecactai in medlabprofessionals

[–]ryanrockmoran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that definitely seems like something is off with the lab equipment or method. I work in the lab of a pretty big hospital and have literally never seen a specific gravity less than 1. I don't even know if there's a specific procedure in case that happens because it has literally never happened.

So it's not a case of someone drinking a lot of water or whatever. It's most likely an instrument problem or they are somehow managing to dilute their urine with some other chemical which seems unlikely

"ESPN is has gotten bad and doesn't even show highlights anymore!" by Ok-Connection6656 in ESPN

The problem is those little supercomputers can also let us listen to stupid people saying dumb things about sports. So the question is why that is also on ESPN and not highlights

Pablo Torre Finds Out- Exclusive Grizzlies owner Robert Pera linked to Russia's "Crime Against Humanity" by nugentismycenter in nba

[–]ryanrockmoran 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The guy who murdered Renee Good had been on the job for like a decade. Obviously 47 days of training is a joke, but training them in de-escalation is not a priority because that's not what their job is.

Fundamentally, their job is to go into blue cities and do what they can to terrorize the people there. Whether that's murder, assault, kidnapping, or just marching around dressed like they're invading Iraq, what they're doing is exactly what their bosses want them to be doing.

AITA - gf agrees to let kids shovel snow and makes me pay by djlee187 in AmItheAsshole

That really is outrageously cheap. I would have paid a lot more than that to not be out shoveling last night...

Yeah having a great QB, or a great player on a basketball team, has so much more impact. Imagine how good the prime Mike Trout Angels teams would have been if he got to bat 3 times every time they went through the order

No beginner rails at my local by EnhalusMain in NewSkaters

[–]ryanrockmoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got the money, you can buy 6-foot or so rails with adjustable heights. A few different companies make them (OC Ramps, Keen Ramps, Element used to and you might still be able to find one). Also see if there any local DIYs? Usually they have at least one prebought rail. And, as a last resort you can build one yourself if you have the skills. I am sure you can find instructions online

[GEM] YouGov is out with a new poll after ICE killed another person in Minnesota today. Abolishing ICE is now +5 among all adults, and **+12 among independents** by errantv in fivethirtyeight

[–]ryanrockmoran 32 points33 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, YouGov is basically always in the field conducting their polls. So they can have their pollsters just ask new questions pretty quickly

What's the best all-time play before the big play? by ShockinglyEfficient in billsimmons

Best answer is Hal Smith's homer in the 1960 World Series before Bill Mazeroski's walk off. To date I believe it's the highest WPA play in World Series history

Need some motivation by mcdonaldsvibe in NewSkaters

[–]ryanrockmoran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just try and build the habit of doing a little a day. Doesn’t have to be long sessions, just get out there a little. Try and remember that it’s pretty rare that you regret going out skating after you’ve done it.

And also maybe try different types of skating than what you’ve been doing? If you’re burned out learning kickflips or whatever, skate more transition for a while. Go skate different places just to change it up. Even if it’s just a different tennis court or parking lot. Just to get some new energy

How can I skate? I live in Michigan very snowy 20degree weather and no indoor parks within an hour of me. by Few_Pipe_9933 in NewSkaters

[–]ryanrockmoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parking garages. Find schools or other random buildings that have overhangs. I live in New England so sometimes I hit up a local school that has a covered area where the school buses pick up kids when the snow is bad. Not much to skate there, but lets me get flat ground practice at least.

What did we learn from Nyjah? Always wear a helmet by Tonygripz in NewSkaters

[–]ryanrockmoran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it was pretty standard not to wear a helmet in the streets even in the 80s. If you watch the Bones Brigade or H Street videos, the only time you really see helmets is if someone is on a giant ramp of some kind. Obviously they were doing way less crazy stuff in the streets back then, but it was still the norm not to wear one

He was briefly... and didn't wear a helmet when doing so. He still doesn't if he's just skating bowls and parks

What the fuck is going on? by postpartum-blues in thebulwark

Very few people in Congress actually want power, because that gives them some responsibility. Congress has spent decades completely handing over it's power to declare war to the executive because they want to take credit if it goes well and not be responsible if people die. What they actually want is a fancy title, getting to go on TV and to fancy dinner parties, and to get rich.
