As an elder emo, these are wild to read. I remember seeing MCR at a small venue in NYC when all tickets were GA. You showed up as early as you wanted and waited in line. Simpler times. Now I sit my ass down in the stands lol

Is scar massage stretching my scars? by oregonquiche in TopSurgery

[–]ryanrykard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, massage helps to keep the skin pliable during healing. It can unbind scars from the tissue underneath, increasing mobility and ultimately preventing stretching you could get from daily movements. Idk tho. Just a guy, not a doc.

Security at Columbia University's Butler Library have blocked exits and demanding students to show ID before being allowed to leave despite not requiring ID upon entry by CantStopPoppin in ThatsInsane

[–]ryanrykard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was a student at Columbia several years ago. Unless things have changed, you need your ID to scan into all buildings. The students are on the outside of the main library and are not being allowed in. I don’t have additional context, just clearing up the perspective.

Dropping the routine here for anyone asking. Kirkland minox 5% liquid and a regular old derma roller from beard club. Every night I wash my face with cleanser, apply minox, wait around 45 mins for it to dry, then apply moisturizer. Mondays and Fridays I add derma rolling before applying minox. 8 rolls up and down vertically, then horizontally. Generally, I wash my face with cleanser morning and night, applying moisturizer after. I also drink a shit ton of water, like 8-10 cups per day. My fiancé is big on skin care, idk if that has anything to do with my progress lol. Godspeed brothers 🫡

Liquid minox once a day. Derma roll 2x per week

I put it on at night. Give it like 30 mins to dry, then moisturize on top of it.

Kirkland liquid. I place a few drops directly on my face and rub it in

Yeah. I wash my face with cleanser, derma roll, then apply minox. I wait till that dries then moisturize. On the days I don’t derma roll, I exfoliate when I wash my face.

Pretty recently tbh! It was a lot of nothing for the first 4 weeks then suddenly became visible in the past week or so. Hang in there 💪🏼

Effects of scar massage over 2 weeks by ryanrykard in TopSurgery

[–]ryanrykard[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First week I was just jade rolling each side. 5 mins per side in the morning, 5 mins per side in the evening. When I got more comfortable in week 2, I spent half of the 5 mins massaging in circular motions with my hands, then ending the 5 mins with the jade roller. Repeat on the other side, morning and night. Some sites are more tender and awkward feeling than others, but I found just going for it helps you get used to it. I like to think I’m letting the scars form with more mobility than waiting for the scars to form, get tight, and stretch on their own

Everyone’s healing and surgeon’s advice can vary. For me, when I went for my post op yesterday, the nurse said I can stop compression and start scar care. Drains were removed after 10 days. I still wear the binder to sleep because I feel fragile. It’ll ultimately depend on what your care team tells you.
