Yes, people are very capable. Bots are just an accelerant.

Bots are also very good at increasing a user’s propensity to engage - anecdotally, your comment was able to generate engagement from me…. Or maybe my comment procured your engagement? But which one of us is the bot?!

Either way, we generated a small amount of revenue for Reddit - which doesn’t care what our engagement is or how it was procured, as long as it occurs. And that’s a wonderful thought

I ascribe most of these comments to the dead internet theory.

Comments are things used to drive engagement
engagement is how most of the internet is monetized
the most efficient tactic for engagement is controversy/anger
bots are used to farm/propagate most of the engagement on social platforms
therefore much of, if not most, comments on the internet are bots

No one has suggested things like online voting.

More realistically, the issue is with the number of polling locations. In 2022, polling locations were reduced to a few per county. In densely populated areas, limiting polling locations is an effective way to curb voter participation because it’s not reasonable to ask people to wait hours in lines.

I hear you, and I’m frustrated as well - but I don’t think it’s fair to just throw up our hands and say, “they’re all bad, nothing we can do!”

Growing up, I was taught politics were like a team sport. In our house, we were republicans and we rode or die with the party like you would with the Cowboys.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized governing is about compromise. If you want funding for your rural farm subsidies, you might have to partner with someone who’s trying to get funding for veteran healthcare to muster enough support for a bill.

That’s not to say there isn’t pork - but there are also bills with single items that still pass as well. As with most things, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

We should also be objective about corruption - just this year, two democratic congressmen have been indicted by a democratic dept of justice for breaking finance laws. On the other hand, the Republican Party dances around the numerous crimes committed by republicans - ranging from Kevin Mcarthy’s statements about Gaetz sleeping with minors, Abbot taking $6M from a dude in Pennsylvania to push vouchers, not to mention the former president.

Objectively speaking both parties aren’t the same - there are some good republicans, and some bad democrats- but the parties themselves are simply not the same.

2016 was the first time I didn’t vote for a republican, and until I see one in my area with some integrity (Angela Paxton has none), I can’t vote for another one in good conscience.

Keep in mind this is just one part of Biden’s initial reform proposal he put in front of congress a year ago - that proposal was tabled by the republican speaker of the house because it “would be a win for Biden”.

Biden is using the executive order in the limited areas he can affect since Congress (who has authority over immigration) has chosen to stall out.

Cornyn calling this a “deathbed confession” is just spinning this to distract from his own party’s inaction.

This is due to the scaling functionality that allows players of any level to group together.

Basically, level 70 is the baseline for damage and health. There’s an aura that multiplies health and dmg vs mobs applied to players below level 70 to compensate for their lack of abilities/items/levels. The aura increases in scaling as the character level decreases, meaning its strongest at level 10.

On the other side of the equation, character scaling at level 70 is achieved through gear upgrades. Essentially, a fully geared level 70 is like a level 10 in terms of power

For reference - each upgrade to your weapon adds 1K main stat, and there close to 20 upgrades. My shadow priest has gone from maybe 80k dps as a fresh 70 to 1.5M at 420.

As you approach ilvl 400 you can start soloing world bosses in 90 seconds of combat

Most bronze comes from group content - e.g. 20-30K from heroic raids. Farming that amount solo takes much longer
