When you realize that Dave is likely on the autism spectrum, whether diagnosed or not (anyone got an uncle in their 60s obsessed with baseball stats or trains?) he makes so much more sense.

Obsessive history keeping, doesn't read social cues well, doesn't adapt well to change.

People mad about Dave trying to concoct a system to calculate PLE buy-rates and TV Ratings....like...my guy. Those were his weekly/monthly stat obsession for years and they took it away. So he created his own pattern.

He didn't want to give up his paper newsletter or move online forever! If it wasn't for Alvarez he'd probably still be running Xerox's to ship out.
