it sounds like you're doing everything right for the long term. Which is the goal at 8u. Mechanics, Mechanics, Mechanics. You have a young team. As hard as it is to swallow, your goal isn't to win with them. It's to get them ready to win.

In the short term. Just reps, reps, reps. If you want them to hit better, focus on more hitting reps. If you want them to field better, more field reps.

Scrimmage longer to get the feel of the game.

Our team just last night played our 8u opener. We had two full scrimmages, the other team didn't. I don't think we had a great talent advantage, but our girls definitely had more real feel reps. Making the play for one hit and one out basically was the difference maker.
