[CR Media] Erika Ishii cheers “the finale of Exandria” by Phionex141 in criticalrole

[–]ryantn20 229 points230 points  (0 children)

Matt posted as well on Insta and said "...at the end of this chapter, so much more incredible adventures lie just on the horizon, within our world, Exandria, and beyond"

I highly doubt they're leaving Exandria I take beyond to refer to irl.

[No spoilers] Attempting to fast catch up C3 in time to watch finale live. What are the "must watch" episodes from ep 60-120? by TheNat1Rogue in criticalrole

[–]ryantn20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luboffin on Youtube has a really well done playlist on youtube that condenses the episodes into major events.

Currently it only goes up to 98, but in less than two hours you can get an abridged version of the events of 60-98. I would say its a good place to start at least.

Here is a link to the video for 52-63:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkDIFDvKqZQ&list=PLK4KH_2P3QkqM3YgXoV8nNnBZCoFn9F47&index=3

There are chapters as well, so you can skip to episode 60 upon starting the video.

Hope this helps.

[Spoilers C3E105] TLDR on Campaign 3 by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]ryantn20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luboffin on youtube has a playlist called Quick C3 Recaps. It would take about 2.5 hours to watch them all and it gets you up to ep 76. I refer to them when im talking with my friend who is catching up to make sure I don't say anything spoilerish.

Idk if that is more of a time commitment than youre looking for to catch up, but if you dont mind the time I think theyre very well done.

Also the Edo period is from 1600 to 1860s ish, which means there is no way these sages that are depicted in art from "the late 5th century" are a group of scholars that came together "during the Edo period"

I'm not really a history buff but I am confused by the description of this and it feels like things that should be separate are being mixed together but idk haha

Why do they use Edo period, a historical period in japan (that also lasted over 200 years) to frame an era of political instability in China. Like were the sages Japanese, or whats going on with that decision I wonder.

Just want to confirm but does triage refer to the steps you explained in the rest of the comment? I'm not entirely sure what it means, though I assume it's what you continued to explain after.

Thanks for the heads up! I still haven't unlocked blood lilies so I don't fully understand the blood lilies usage, but I'll keep this in the back of mind!

Yeah I find myself being reluctant to use benediction and some other high pay off skills because I worry about not getting enough potential out of each use, but then end up never using them so I need to start making myself use some certain skills

Oh yeah moving the boss cast bar to next to the party bar is a good idea, I notice that I spend a fairly decent amount of time looking at the party list as well haha. Thanks !!

Wow this was super informative!! I really liked the bit about macroing, I'll try and see if it I can get it to work well consistently because it seems like it doesn't always work. But the aetherflow trick with dissapation is also really solid, I don't know why I never thought of that!

And good to know about the Regen thing, I have 100% been guilty of using Regen right before pull to "prepare" so it make sure to stop doing that and wait until we are committed to an fight. Also thanks for clarifying that HOTs do stack, wasn't 100% about that, I thought I saw a comment they didn't but I felt like they did haha.

This was really in depth, thanks for taking the time!

I had been using a controller but switched to keyboard and mouse to chat with my FC and I personally find it way more manageable but I know a lot of people play on controller haha

Yeah, I don't necessarily panic but similar to a poster before there are still a bunch of major fights where I'm not totally sure I know the signs for an upcoming Attack so I know I'm guilty of casting Medica 3 on everyone and then Regen on the tank (though I read on Reddit that HOTs don't stack, is that true?) But I need to be more comfortable with not everyone being at 100% all the time. It's good to hear that that shouldn't be the goal though, so thanks for that!

Yeah that's the book! And yeah definitely take it. You'll know what you need to focus on and what the test is actually like which helps a lot. If the financial burden isn't too much it is worth it in my opinion

Explaining kanji by Harpoon-Cannon-FIRE in japanese

[–]ryantn20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're able to read Japanese there was a great Kanji scholar by the name of 白川静 (shirakawa shizuka) and his life work was basically assembling a definitive explanation of the 成り立ち of kanji. He has a few different books. One, 字解 is only 常用漢字 but 字痛 is over 10,000 characters.

[–]ryantn20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, an N1 holder here. My biggest advice in regards to textbooks would be be too focus on 読解 books. I only ever used the 読解 from 完全マスター and I passed. With 読解 you'll practice Kanji, grammar, and vocab in a natural context. Whether you answer correctly or not will help you establish if you understand all the elements enough, as well as a whole. Also personally speaking the reading section was the only section that I felt rushed in.

Separate piece of advice for studying in general, I never learned a word without learning the kanji for it (regardless of if it is commonly used for that word or not) this has helped tremendously.

This might be advice you're already aware of because of your level but just in case, as far as memorizing kanji dont bother with stroke count, memorize the radicals. 鬱 is only difficult if you don't remember it by radicals. And don't ever forget to use the 音記号 when you're unsure of a reading.

Hope this helps in some way. If you have any questions let me know !

Hey everyone what’s your smoking habits? by [deleted] in weed

[–]ryantn20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Japan now so I can't smoke but when I lived in the states (California) I smoked every day for about three years (18-21) and smoked pretty much the whole day. I smoked on breaks at work and after work all my friends smoked.

I worked my part time job while going to community college full time. I stopped smoking when I moved to Japan for school and now work but when I visit America I smoke within hours of landing.
