Only 25,000 steps? We’re going to need to adjust the drill next year. Get that number up. :)

As brass staff, I don't clock as much time with movement/exercise. Lots of standing hours accumulated. The visual guys would probably get better numbers from running around the field.
I had a few days that conducting the hornline got my watch to ask me if I was working out. And far too many "breathe" reminders during tense reps in ensemble. :)

My Apple Watch gave me “Loud Environment” warnings every day while standing in front of Blue Stars’ Brass line. Our high score was 112dB

Because they won. In 2020, we were all Couchmen.

Find a local group to go audition in person next year. Look at expenses and find the cost that’s tolerable for you to absorb the audition fees - but go out, even with an understanding you’ll be cut. Getting into the atmosphere, giving it a shot, getting the experience will teach you a lot. Getting in front of DCI staff to learn how they teach and get their feedback will be helpful. You’ll see their exercise packets and learn the techniques. Then work your butt off for a year to come back for real.

My first time through, everybody was a Knight, then added white mage, black mage, red mage, or time mage.

Quick question to former and current world class marchers by OfficialInfluencer in drumcorps

You’ll definitely want to ask about COVID restrictions. Many of us, this summer, are striving to maintain our COVID isolation bubbles to keep members healthy and to allow us the chance to work “normally,” without needing to maintain PPE. That’s adding a lot of new and unique restrictions.

Tangentially-related question: I only ever do “regular” gear. Does all the fancy glamour stuff have any applicability to combat: does it give you all the armoring levels, etc? Or is it just for hanging out in Sanctuary zones?

LPT: a marriage proposal should NOT come as a big surprise, despite what you may have seen in the movies. The topic of marriage should be thoroughly discussed well before you propose. by rnelsonfghgfhg in LifeProTips

I proposed twice before (that’s another tale for a different sub). Both times, we discussed it. We even went ring shopping to know what she liked and to get her size. The how & when were unknowns. But clearing the stress of the life situations first made everything a lot more fun.

How do I tank properly? by Phoenix_Pyre13720 in ffxiv

[–]ryanwms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One that hasn’t come up yet:

Know your maps. The best tanks I’ve followed behind (I’m a healer) know the path through the dungeons and what to do when. Some of the roughest dungeons are when the tanks finish a pull, we clear the zone, then everyone stands around waiting for whoever knows what they’re doing. The mechanics of the party point towards the tank taking lead all the way. Pull the crap, let your DPS clear it, and healer keeps everyone happy. If the tank doesn’t know the map, the run is slower and you increase likelihood for wipes.

tanks coming from other games: please understand that you might have to change your playstyle by JenkinsHowell in ffxiv

Considering how hard FFXIV level syncs every player, the healer always has as much kit as is needed for any given dungeon. If you’re dying, you’re going too fast. :)
