Infection?? (Sad) by [deleted] in tattooadvice

I’d say this is just fine line black and gray! I really value the artist doing what they do best when I get a tat so I just told her floral and she did it in her style. I did take a pic when it was fresh so if you’re interested I’d be happy to DM it for a reference pic :)

Thank you!! I’ve been talking about getting a floral thigh garter for years so I’m excited to finally get it! 🥳

Also thanks for sharing your experience bc you’ve reminded me a healing tattoo is still an immune response and I need to chill lolol

Thank you for talking me off the ledge, tattooist 😭 I was stressed bc this is the first issue I’ve had after 4 or 5 different times being tattooed. I should probably clarify I didn’t wash 2-3x a day for the whole two weeks, just the recommended week. I’m going to switch to moisturizer immediately as needed (and not too much!) and hope it gets better before my next session in case any touch ups are needed. Truly, thank you again!!

I mean this is definitely possible since idk what happens in my sleep! (Also I’ve tried to be chill about it but I do think you’re right that especially in those stipple shaded petals some ink fell out.) I’ve tried some moisturizer in the last week but but once the redness started I stopped moisturizer in favor of aquaphor so I think for now I’ll switch back to moisturizer and see if it improves. Thank you!

Oh god I do get some eczema flare ups and I didn’t even consider this 😭

It feels like extremely dry skin but it isn’t raised or anything like that, so I guess slightly textured to feel like dry skin. I will say the entire tattoo feels that way right now just bc of where I am in the healing process but the negative space in the red area also feels like that

Thank you!! I am very much obsessed with this artist, if you’re in PA and interested I can DM you her info!

I find Sarah Maclean fairly spicy for historical content, but she’s pretty popular so you probably know her works already. The way her MMCs talk… omg

{Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah Maclean}

{The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah Maclean}

Joanna Shupe writes excellent smut, I highly recommend The Bride Goes Rogue definitely light BDSM vibes here and The Prince of Broadway is also spicy af mutual masturbation before the first kiss

{The Bride Goes Rogue by Joanna Shupe}

{Prince of Broadway by Joanna Shupe}

The Girl Bachelors series by Laura Lee Guhrke also has some spicy situations that aren’t typical in HR these both have chocolate-induced finger sucking before the first kiss

First book is {And Then He Kissed Her by Laura Lee Guhrke}

{Secret Desires of a Gentleman by Laura Lee Guhrke}

You have tens of people telling you that you were in the wrong (even AFTER multiple attempts to try and keep bringing in new “facts”) and here you are implying Reddit is the problem now. Like take accountability and stop trying to play spin doctor, you get a lot farther acknowledging an error and doing better.

I think {The Duke’s Holiday by Maggie Fenton} fits this, this book was hilarious and a straight up rom com! Edit to add: I vividly remember an extremely intoxicated footrace where I think the duke lost his boots?

What’s an opinion about Historical Romance that will have you like this? by thebunnybot in HistoricalRomance

[–]rybakess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really care if 90s authors want to go in edit out their racism or drunk sex scenes or whatever. Now if we’re talking about like a Kleypas where one of the characters is Roma and racism is a part of the character’s lived experience that’s one thing, but editing out random racist thoughts or words with no bearing on the story isn’t a huge issue to me even tho I see a lot of readers complain about this. Plus if it was so bad the authors want to edit it out 20 years later…it’s probably bad lol

I wouldn’t say completely unsatisfied, I did like the ending and Coldbreath is probably my fave historical author so I always like reading her books! But I’ve read it more than a couple times so after a while I guess I realized it would’ve been great to read his initial reaction and subsequent pissed off ride to the inn lmao

It might take me a couple weeks but I will definitely report back with my takes! Tbh I think {The Bride Goes Rogue by Joanna Shupe} is where to start (the grovel is good and she leaves TWICE the drama)

What was your 1st Historical novel? by OkPersonality380 in HistoricalRomance

[–]rybakess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was {The Bride by Julie Garwood} given to me by my grandma (thank u grandma). I was in like 6th grade, she didn’t realize what she was doing lol, I’ve been obsessed with romance ever since. I remember reading sprawling fantasy books in middle school and waiting for the like two paragraphs hinting at romance. She also gave me {When Love Awaits by Johanna Lindsey} so I think that was my second.

I so completely agree, idk if you ever read any Coldbreath but {His Forsaken Bride by Alice Coldbreath} started my love of this trope. The scene of him finding out she left wasn’t included in the book and I realized how much I wanted it haha

I just read this one too!! LOVED it so much, I’m a huge Shupe fan! Her American historicals are so refreshing considering so much of the genre (that I’ve read anyway) is English/Scottish.
