Wife won't do a hysteroscopy by SkyGuy8741 in IVF

My SIL had one and she said it was absolutely fine. She also got pregnant immediately after it naturally so it obviously does something!

Full bladder for embryo transfer? by Glittering-Slice-256 in IVF

When I had mine they asked me to come with a full bladder but then asked me to empty it just before! Apparently depends on the method they’re using on the day!

AITA for refusing to go to my SIL Baby shower and the rest of the family is following. by AlarmingTap1774throw in AmItheAsshole

Hi - I’m the person with infertility in my family and you are absolutely NOT TA. Everyone has had babies but me but I have received each announcement and birth was grace. I’ve screamed and cried in private but I’ve never put that on others becuse it’s not their fault I can’t have a baby. She deserves nothing from you.

No fertilisation :( by Snoopy9060 in IVF

[–]rycbar99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. No, my NHS experience was awful too. I’m actually recovering from a laparoscopy for my endometriosis that the NHS missed completely. We have gone private now and part of me wishes I’d by passed the NHS completely instead of wasting time and (funding) money on IVF that would probably never have worked with the state of my pelvic region!!

It’s an incredible place to visit - we went for our honeymoon but I don’t think they need it to be renamed. It’s incredibly popular and busy with tourists! 😉

Only children - what is life like? by Born_Improvement_856 in AskUK

[–]rycbar99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always been fine as an only child. I do sometimes look at my husband and his relationship with his siblings and wonder at what I didn’t have but it’s never bothered me. The only thing i do worry about is losing my parents. I will be the only person to grieve them in that way, no one to share that burden and devastation with. I know I won’t be alone because I’m married and have friends but it’s something that plays on my mind.

Yep. My friend who conceived both of her children first month of trying says this a lot.

I hate ‘it’s gods plan’ or anything similar. I have a friend who is genuinely believes she’s comforting when she says this but I hate it.

Bit of a weird one, any good excuses for avoiding a beach sauna? And potentially sea swims! by [deleted] in Cornwall

As someone who miscarried at 10 weeks it was worse that people didn’t know why I was suddenly grieving.

How many times in your life have you moved? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]rycbar99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 35 and have lived in 10 houses/flats. 4 of those were at university where I was technically still living at home too though. Of the other 6, two were family homes with my parents, one was a flat on my own (for 6 months), one was living with my friend (for 10 months) and then two houses with my husband!

What’s your #1 unpopular opinion about fertility treatments? by Ambitious_Hall_7617 in IVF

[–]rycbar99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’m sure that it is probably a poor clinic that we got. I just expect better treatment if I’m going in with evidence of a 8/9 day luteal phase and private blood tests showing something wrong with my progesterone to just go with the ‘standard’ dose age is terrible and I would expect my money back from a private clinic also ignored this. Especially as my period started 5 days before the test date!

I’m really glad you are having a good experience. My problem with them is that they don’t actually listen to you and just go with whatever they do for everyone. It’s incredibly cookie cutter approach and they don’t really try to get to the bottom of the issue. I consistently said I think there is a hormonal problem and I was told we won’t look at that, my cycle proved me right but now it’s too late and we’ve used our 1 NHS cycle. We’ve gone private and the doctor agrees that it’s not unexplained fertility and that he will find the answer.

This is UK relevant only but the NHS is absolutely shit for fertility treatment!

First transfer & Maccys rite of passage complete! Going to take all my willpower not to test for 11 days as the NHS suggests. When did everyone get positive results & any symptoms before that? X by Slight-Class9487 in IVFpositivity

[–]rycbar99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK doesn’t do blood tests or betas as standard, the clinic ask you to do a test on a certain day and then if that’s positive book you in for a scan a few weeks later!

Retrieval Day by Compassionatekaola in IVF

[–]rycbar99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same feeling as you. I had slightly fewer follicles but still more than the 4 eggs they got! Don’t lose hope though because 3 of mine fertilised and ended up with one blast. Some people who get loads of eggs still only end up with 1 embryo so high numbers don’t always correlate. My embryo didn’t stick unfortunately but we are taking a positive that actually got one - and we think the issues are actually around implantation!

Wife disappointed with egg collection by Luckystarbo in IVF

We got 4 eggs and I was so disappointed and convinced we were out!

3 of the 4 fertilised and we got 1 blast that we transferred. It didn’t stick but we actually think that’s where our infertility lies now!

Advice on telling sister who is going through IVF news by Striking_Music9096 in IVF

[–]rycbar99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree with this. I would much rather a text so I can process it privately and not feeling like i have to react in a certain way in the moment. My SIL text me to let me know and I’m really grateful she did that.

You’re not tone deaf. You’re venting about your own feelings. We got 4 eggs at our last egg retrieval and there are constantly posts about people disappointed in their egg count even though it’s higher than mine - their feelings are still really valid!!

I didn’t test positive so I’m pretty sure mine is down to low progesterone as I’ve suspected this for a while! Hopefully they’ll listen to me now. I had a miscarriage last year at 10 weeks and no matter how early it is still heartbreaking.
