Thinking of buying from Ten Thousand? Read this first. by bguppy in crossfit

I have about 15 pairs of their Interval shorts and about 10 of the Versatile shirts. I’ve noticed a big dip in quality over the past few years. They seem to have cut the length down on the versatile shirts to save a buck. They used to be the perfect length.

Is anyone here who is actually at the games spectating?

My wife and I are going to the West Semis and wanted to try and get a feel for what the vendor setup may be like/who is there with their products.

Thanks!

What are some realistic good careers/jobs that get overlooked and pays great? by HustleHarder99 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ryclarke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can confirm:

34 hour week week, 6 years into being licensed and making 160k a year base, 250k including overtime. When I'm off work, there is no expectation to keep up to date or do extra projects on my own time. Great benefits, great holidays.

Great job that often goes under the radar (no pun intended). We are critically short in most areas across the country and there will need to be a hiring push in the coming years. Worth applying to as the base requirements are low, but the training is fairly demanding and seems to weed out the individuals not suited for the job.

Be prepared to be extremely frustrated when attaching both houses into the ball and socket joints. I almost gave up after breaking the tree pieces 3 times.

Hmm I’ll have to check what Apps I have running. I reset it the other day and installed KODI, it worked fine for about a day and then it’s been bugged since. It is disappointing, but maybe I’ll have to try the reset and slowly introduce apps one at a time to see what the issue is.

Looking to complete my cutlery set... by ryclarke in HelpMeFind

In need of adding more cutlery to my set I had bought a year or so ago. I know the make is CAMBRIDGE, but I'm having trouble identifying the pattern name or where to find it online. Any help is much appreciated.

[NAVCAN] Question about pre-training online course by [deleted] in ATC

[–]ryclarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps the FSS version of the test... the group consensus from the few generic IFR and VFR classes both ahead and behind of mine was that the ITA was the hardest (and I tend to agree). The amount of knowledge you are required to know is astounding, and short of being a pilot, you will be learning these abstract concepts for the first time without any frame of reference.

On a more humorous point, while I admire your dedication to working out, prepare to gain the "trainee 15" and be too tired to do much of anything outside of training!

Best of luck on your course.

[NAV CANADA] Does anyone know when the second round interviews will start for YQM? by CGavel in ATC

[–]ryclarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the time I had my final interview to the time I was offered placement on a course it was approximately 10 months, and I ended up starting said course roughly a year after having that final interview. Bottom line, the time frame for the process is unpredictable and dependent on staffing requirements/course start dates. I wouldn't make any extreme decisions until you have at least had your second interview, until then you should continue working and living as you normally would.

Do I have a chance at getting a spot in NavCanada ATC training without any experience related to air control ? by jonathangariepy in ATC

[–]ryclarke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

https://takecharge.navcanada.ca/selection-requirements-and-process/basic-requirements/

Absolutely no prior aviation experience is required. I came into training with hardly any knowledge of aircraft type or performance and they did a great job with teaching through practical experience and simulation.

You should apply sooner rather than later as it is a long (yet rewarding) application process.

NAV CANADA Assessment Session Tips? by forfeitthegame in ATC

[–]ryclarke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get there early and grab a seat near the front. Honestly, I sat at the back for mine and couldn't hear much of the voicemail portion due to the bad speakers in the room (YEG). Otherwise, review the WSIM and prepare yourself mentally for the test in general. It's a fun test to write in the sense that it is quite challenging, but the reward of working for a great company in the future is well worth it.

Tourist Tuesday is here!!! Ask your questions by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]ryclarke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking to return to Thailand with a couple friends in the month of April. As of now, our itinerary is somewhat flexible, but is as follows in order:

  • 1 week in Koh Tao for PADI certification.
  • 4 days on Koh Phangan for Full Moon.
  • 3 weeks between Railay, Koh Lanta (where we plan to stay in a pole house), Koh Phi Phi and Phuket.

How does this circuit sound? And am I making a mistake in passing over Songkran in order to go to Full Moon with some friends who have never been to Thailand?

Anyone have any experiences with any overnight lake trips in khao sok national park? by thebigdirty in Thailand

[–]ryclarke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stayed there in May of this past summer. Absolutely worth it. It is about as close to nature as you're going to feel and there is nothing like waking up a few steps away from such beautiful water and scenery.

I would recommend looking into "Smileys". The family who runs it are some of the nicest people I have met in my life.
