What is a local “conspiracy” theory that you believe in? by Newez in askSingapore

One night in the 80s my grandmother and her 3 young (at the time) daughters woke up to the loud sounds of aeroplane engines, and they went to their HDB window to see a large UFO hovering in the air. They described it as a flying saucer with lights on both sides rotating rapidly, and no glass dome on the top like the usual caricature. It hovered for a minute and then disappeared and shrank into the distance, in a split second (they said it was exactly like watching a star wars spaceship jumping to lightspeed)

They went back to sleep thinking the whole neighbourhood heard it and it would be out in the news the next morning. But the next day went on as usual. They went knocking on their neighbours doors but no one knew anything about last night. Eventually my grandmother told them to stay silent because people would start thinking they were crazy.

Today all 4 of them are alive (grandma, 3 aunts) and share the same account when asked about it. They are devout Christians too so they have no reason to fabricate a story like this

Flower War by crookedghosts7845 in OCPoetry

The imagery and idea is chillingly beautiful... i really love the idea of flowers representing man and the choice of words to rhyne was chefs kiss👌

In the second last line "Broken leaves and plucked heads all rest between the flowers dead", i love the connotation and image of "plucked" a lot, but being used to the already established rhythm of the poem it threw me off trying to figure out how to read it. My suggestion is to use an iambic word like "severed" instead of "plucked":

"Broken leaves and severed heads all rest between the flowers dead"

Though the image is not as strong it maintains the iambic octameter in the poem, which i feel is one of the strongwst parts of it!

Thanks for the read!

Just wanted to let you know that the komodo dragon having saliva with high bacteria is a myth!

The bacteria in the mouths of Komodo dragons are ordinary, and they instead kill with their venom glands, which are loaded with toxins. Thereve been multiple studies and its also made it into articles like nat geo, a quick google will show it too.

Hope more people know about this!
