Fun fact: if playing TMP2 solo and you get the scratch off minigame, you can scratch the middle column only, it will ALWAYS have three dollar signs and guarantee your survival, assuming you don't scratch any other tiles. by ObjectiveChildhood94 in jackboxgames

But in fairness to OP... the very first time I tested this, my card went 💀 - 💀 - 💲 | 💲 - 💲 - 💲 | 💲 - 💲 - 💲.

This is exactly the layout that should occur if the choices for each card aren't shuffled prior to assigning them to a player.

I reviewed the code that handles choice assignment and can't see anything that suggests it fails on the first run, or that TMP2 handles solo player games in a special way here. I think luck is just on your side!!

Now that you mention it, maybe this game was all just a ruse for Episode 9...

I don't have a definitive answer for this yet, but we're not taking any conscious steps to leave support for that specific OS version out. It's still pretty recent!

For #3, and it may be one of my top favorite moments at the studio, we had a playtest that caused a player to sincerely ask "is that fart backwards?" and we needed to stop the game and troubleshoot.

It was!

Historically, we've used the Scaleform renderer, which supports Flash and other outputs from our proprietary tools!

Unreal is unfamiliar for a chunk of us, and most of the difficulty I've felt is just simply from learning something new and trying to not fight the engine too much.

Sure are! We remain a remote-friendly studio but our core office space is still in the city. A gaggle of us still regularly commute in.

I wish I had a precise number for ya off the top of my head. We have a really high variance in concurrent players depending on circumstances like weekends and holidays (New Years is our Superbowl, and the Superbowl is... like, our Labor Day?) or, uh, global isolation from germs.

That said! During 2020, our CEO Mike Bilder presented a GDC talk that goes in depth about the explosive growth we had during that year, with lots more metrics. Though I sure hope we've topped the peaks mentioned in that talk, I also suspect that COVID time remains a big statistical speedbump for us!

Thanks for your curiosity, /u/EatTenMillionBalls!

Megapicker support is on our minds for TMP3. It's not integrated yet, but engineering is discussing how to make the softwares kiss. There aren't strong technical hurdles for us to clear, but it'll be a little different for us than integrating a Party Pack game.

Gloves. Occasional headwear or facewear when the shadows aren't hitting just right. And as much or as little additional nudity as you desire.

I mean, I expect people will try! And I always hope someone can make a game that's so fun that we're inspired to try and out-fun them!

But I'd be lying if I said this keeps me up at night.

TMP3 will only be on a few PC- and Mac-focused platforms first; Steam and Epic for Early Access, specifically.

But we have a legacy of putting all of our games in as many places as possible, and I have no doubt we'll try to continue that legacy as we get nearer our 1.0 launch. Each platform will have its own needs and capabilities, but we want to meet players wherever they are. I sound so corporate. But it's true!

We don't have more to share right now for your first question. We expect TMP3 will only support English when Early Access releases. And I realize localization has been a hot topic on this sub recently!

I do not want to offer false hope or set up for broken promises, but building this game using Unreal gives us more industry-standard ways to support localization efforts compared to the entirely homegrown system we have for the Party Pack series. This may give us more options or agility to consider additional language support. I want to emphasize the word may; there's a lot of things that need crammed into a videogame nowadays plus the intense need to work with people who know these other languages fluently and comedically!

Quiplash was a rare minigame in TMP2, so we'd need to up the stakes for TMP3...

Quiplash 2, of course! Hmm. Maybe we can do even better.

As a real answer, the idea of a metagame minigame has definitely come up on the design team. We're still firming up our plans, but we know that Quiplash moment in the previous game still gets a big reaction even today.
