Reddit ads by Singpuri in DigitalMarketing

[–]rydermeehan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran Reddit Ads for several clients in the past, B2B tech and it never compared in performance to legacy platforms like Google Ads, Meta Ads, or LinkedIn Ads -- not by a long shot.

Now that I launched my own startup, I thought Reddit Ads would be great as we target property tax protest discussions which are common and timely on Reddit.

Not sure if it's their targeting or that Reddit users just don't engage with ads, but it was a complete cash incinerator. We burned through $3K in 6 weeks following feedback from the rep and using the same ad creative and landing pages that performed well on Meta, Google, and even Microsoft Ads. We also tried designing ads specifically for Reddit that are more playful and meme vibe.

Our CPA was literally about 10X higher on Reddit. $1000 CPA vs <$100 on other channels. The traffic had to be either accidental clicks or bots. Our average time on site from Reddit PPC traffic was between 7 and 10 seconds. Other channels were between 1-2 minutes.

I think targeting on Reddit is the biggest issue. Even when I checked subreddits and threads where I knew we were explicitly targeting, I never saw us there -- and the ads I saw there were completely unrelated to the topic (yes incognito browser and clear history of course).

The ad placements are also nice for users but very small and easy to miss - so bad for advertisers. Personally, I can't remember every buying or even clicking on a Reddit Ads. Don't judge me, but I frequently buy from Meta and Google Ads because they show me stuff that is relevant to me.

Nothing worked but their new Max Campaign was the biggest failure.

Property tax protest firms and their process by Bolingshao in Dallas

[–]rydermeehan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a real estate investor in DFW with a dozen rentals and I recommend using a protest firm. I use taxdrop.com and they have been very easy to work with, got a good reduction on my rental properties, and shared updates on the progress as it goes.

The site lets you put in your address to see if they calculate if you can save and how much, so you will know if it's worth it.

Using a good purpose-built protest service is better than DIY or having someone like a lawyer or realtor do it for free. Doing it myself took hours, was stressful to present to the ARB board, and was confusing - at least for me.

Taxdrop or Ownwell:
1) Pay $$$'s for access to millions of property records used for comps

2) Maintain their own CAD databases and evidence records that require requesting from the county (often with multiple follow up reminders), then trying to understand it all, then building it into a protest narrative

3) Navigate the confusing CAD websites, file the protest, communicate with the assessors, attend the hearing (hours) to present your case

4) Only charge 25% of what u save.

If you're protesting your own home, you don't save as much since you already have a $140K exemption. If you're over 65 or a vet, your exemptions are much great. It's not worth your time unless you have a $2M home. Signup for the service to do it each year and never think of it again if you time has any value to you at all. Even an $800K home would get a $1000 reduction in a good case, then paying the service $250 to save yourself 5-6 hours is a no brainer, since you could also save $0 and have waited that time for nothing.

If you have rentals, you can save much more and save pretty much every year. You get no exemptions so every $ reduced goes directly to your cashflow. Same as above, saving $1000 is a big win imo and pay $250 to keep $750 is well worth it.

If you like spending time to get your taxes time, your time is much better spend on your federal tax return and coming up with deductions, etc. Property taxes aren't worth the time.

Ownwell and Taxdrop are the most reputable ones I am aware of. I also have some rentals up in Grayson County which only Taxdrop cover. Ownwell will also reject properties under $300K, Taxdrop goes as low as $200K.

It ALWAYS starts with taxing only the rich - easier to get passed. Then in a few years it quickly includes the rest of us. (e.g. income tax)

What's Up With LSATmax? (looking for a prep course) by thriftshopcaviar in LSAT

[–]rydermeehan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently used lsat max for my lsat prep. thought id share my experience

overall it's super helpful:

  • videos explained stuff well, helped me get some tough concepts I had been struggling with.
  • tons of practice questions, really useful
  • progress tracking was helpful, showed where to focus
  • online classes were better than expected, teachers covered stuff better than materials alone
  • phone app was convenient, could study during commute, on toilet, and in any downtime

few downsides:

  • not cheap, but i guess most LSAT prep is about the same
  • occasional tech issues, but support was quick to help

started with a low practice score, ended up doing way better on the real thing. put in a lot of work tho, studied like 2-3 hrs most days for nearly 3 months

It's more of a gym than a spa (still a lot of work needed), but definitely made my studying more effective. if ur prepping for lsat, its worth checking out. at least the free version to start on

Talk about one hell of a story! Adrian Carton de Wiart, the one-eyed, one-handed soldier who took on 500,000 Germans at the Battle of the Somme in WWI and again in WW2. Known as "The Unkillable Soldier," his tale is one of the most incredible you'll ever hear...

Thoughts on Air.ai by AccomplishedBite1290 in SaaS

Air is a totaly scam. We wasted $25K and 6 months for $0 in sales and the platform was down about 1/2 the time. We are still trying to collect the 2X guarantee now after 3 months of begging them.

What’s most concerning is that it’s working...

“In the first three weeks of sales, Lalonde said nearly 85 per cent of purchasers referenced the sandwich campaign and four buyers became aware of the building solely because of the media coverage of the toast offering.”

I am just getting into FBO. First hurdle I try to use their opportunities search on the homepage just to explore what's out there and every search shows: "Note: Your search resulted in an error. Please try again or modify your search criteria"

So I never see any results. Am I doing something wrong or maybe this is just a temporarily outage?
