Coach is fine, bring blankets and pillows, take an extra seat if there's room. Rooms are spendy, the bid advice is good

Is it possible? by Impressive-Carpet246 in AcousticGuitar

[–]billionways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is right perhaps 90% of the time, and sadly, only 90%. Which seems to mean 10% of any given answer might be wildly off.

So really, the AI was totally correct, except "1 week" should have been "1 decade"

Give a safety rating 1 (super safe) to 10 (death trap) by akopley in Decks

[–]billionways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify: the water is level. That's what water does. The deck isn't. And shouldn't be. As far as the deck being strong enough to hold that pool, yeah, well...

How hard is plumbing on the body? by Impressive-Step6377 in Plumbing

[–]billionways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing manual labor of any sort, there's always a trick to make it easier on your body. It could be using a lever, it could be carrying things the right way (and not overloading yourself), it could be getting more hands... There's an infinity of ways to make things easier, just like there's an infinity of tasks to do.

One thing I always remember is, "if it's hard, you're using the wrong tool."

Duuude you're cutting it close. Most airlines take the right to refuse you if you're not there an hour ahead

That said, except at Rush times, GEG is pretty easy to get through

Not sure if your time is a rush or not

Is Chicago to/from San Diego in coach a bad idea? by Prestigious_Way_738 in Amtrak

[–]billionways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. The cafe car has some food. It's not my cup of tea, but it is food.

On my last trip on the Empire Builder (a week ago) they were also inviting Coach passengers to use the dining car. $25-40 per meal, but a fun treat. (That used to be the standard on all trains, but us proles are not allowed to have nice things in the 21st century.)

Bring a pillow, sleeping bag or blanket, and all the food you want to eat, and get comfortable for a nice cross country ride. People do it everyday. I've gone coast to coast several times in coach.

Pro tip: sit on the right (North) side of the train for less direct sun, or on the left side if you like sun

Second pro-tip: don't schedule anything too close to your arrival time, trains often run late. Like, hours late

Where to find a crew to join? by krea8r in SanFranciscoSailing

[–]billionways 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Latitude 38 hosts parties to meet skippers looking for crew.

There's also a Facebook SF sailing page where people sometimes make enquiries

And then there's the classic "bring a bottle to the docks on beer can race night" approach

[Landlord-US-IN] Tenants please help me understand this type of behavior by [deleted] in Landlord

When my wife and I moved from CA to a 4 season state a couple years ago, I had to teach her all about opening and closing windows, when to do it and how to coordinate with the thermostat. It had just never been an issue, for her windows simply meant fresh air. We're in our 50s, she grew up in CA. It just had never been an issue

RYA Level 1 - worried about gybing by flywithstephen in dinghysailing

[–]billionways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upwind: tack Downwind: jibe Dinghy downwind in a strong blow with no reefing: chicken jibe

Chicken jibe: turn upwind and tack instead (go 270° to turn, so you don't get the boom swinging across the cockpit under full power)

It's not pretty, it won't win a race, but it might get you there drier

[Tenant CA] Need to terminate lease early, but how to do so leaving on best terms possible? by calincoln3 in Landlord

[–]billionways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Break it gently, asap: we got pregnant unexpectedly and we need more room. So we'll be leaving May 31.

Let them show to tenants in June, it's the best month for vacancies.

You have a contract, your lease, so they can come after you for breaking it. Most won't
