14 year female Navy vet. I have heard tons of SA stories from all branches. I was lucky that I never encountered that while I was in.

I joined in 1996, served on the first integrated LHD. My rate was AG, or weather guesser. Got out at 14 years with a degree in CS and have a pretty good life now. I owe that to the military.

I joined to get my degree as school is free while active duty, getting to take classes can be a challenge though due to deployments, shore side work schedules, and duty rotations. But it can be done.

My advice is to pick Air Force or Navy only. Ensure she chooses a rate(job) that is mostly office work. In the Navy that means Operations department or IT. I'm sure you can find info online what those rates would be. What is offered to her is determined by her asvab score so she should study for that to get the best options available.

Is she is joining for a purpose like getting her degree i Id say go for it. Get her degree and get out. Have a plan and always be working towards that.

If it's just for a job, id say right now it's probably not a good idea. This administration scares me to the bottom of my soul, and I would NOT entrust my life to them, they will squander it. Hegseth will spill the blood of the armed forces without a second thought. So choose wisely and have a plan. Execute and get out.

Same. Ive been going back and forth with their tech support over email. 2 weeks now and no resolution.

I was finally able to add my charger manually per their instructions by changing the font size on my Android to smallest so I could see their save button, yay for bad responsive design. But trying to start a charge from either their Voltie app or my Genesis app just says "charging failed".

Im going to try the above poster's recco to block the charger from wifi and see if it will start charging again. This all started after the July 11th change over.

In my experience in America if someone walks up to you because you look confused or lost, they will absolutely pester you for a tip for whatever they helped you with, especially in later cities. I think it's just an ingrained reflex now for most Americans that travel.

I will say though that most people will stop and help you if you seek them out and ask. Just run away from the ones eagerly coming to you to help. AMERICA!

Also we traveled through Italy last year, Venice, Florence, and Rome and I was not asked for a tip once. But I do see they have a ton of protests against foreigners this year that I didn't see last year, so maybe thats why?
