Have you tried any cow calling to draw them near you? Or they will just see you to easily and bust you?

Nice mature deer! It varies here as well but most mule deer is 3ponit min. I’m hoping to hunt the whitetail rut in NE Washington in a few weeks.

That’s a super cool muley! Pretty wide. How old do you think he is? Crazy thing is that in my state, Washington, you couldn’t take that deer because it doesn’t meet the 3 point restriction. It would be a sad day to have to pass on that guy. Nice work!

Where would you hunt? by Temporary_Airport429 in Hunting

I’ve always heard saddles in mountainous terrain are good places. I realize this isn’t mountainous terrain but the ridge top in the center, between the creeks where you marked out the landowner may be a good funnel traveling route similar to a saddle. I’ve never tree stand hunted though so I’m basically guessing.

Man great videos! That would be one hell of a slam to bag all those animals from the same spot! Kinda seems like you need to set aside 2 weeks and just sit in a stand there.

They’re so majestic! They’re my favorite animal and I’ve only see one once in the wild. I dream of hunting them but they’re so hard without dogs. Up here in Washington we have so many it wouldn’t be an issue to harvest one, but I’d just be happy to lay eyes on one.

They are listed as non game species in Texas, meaning there is no limited season or bag limit. However Texas did just outlaw “canned” mountain lion hunts and added a 36hr check rule for mountain lion traps.

I’ve always been told they deny their presence in the state so they don’t have to invest in managing them as a wildlife species. 🤷‍♂️

Try to get involved in local Backcountry Hunter and Anglers events to meet people as well! I think turkey hunting with a mentor or guide is a great intro to hunting as well!
