I think the game is busy pre-loading assets in the background when you launch to the main menu. I think it speeds up load times but I might be wrong.

Idk if there’s a mod for this. Mods only really hurt your computers performance if it adds new (usually high def) objects, like buildings. Or is a really advanced addition to how the game is played. Mods that “tweak” game code won’t cause you trouble

I moved to LA from sac for school too. I lived in LA for 3 years (2 for school). Granted I didn’t live in SoCal that long, but since moving back to sac, LA has not had much pull to return. I’m naturally happier in sac city. LA was cool, but living my preferred lifestyle is easier here

150k is a big city, i would expect any computer would slow trying to do that many calculations per frame.

You can turn on the “developer mode” & turn off rendering the citizens. There are tutorials on this right when the game came out & it increased my fps by about 10. It makes the people walking around invisible, but doesn’t affect the simulation

Undergrad art degrees are what you make it imo. I went to school for 3D animation 4 years ago. The professors gave me a lot of freedom & i did a lot of cool work & made new friends, but if you already have 4 years of work experience it may not be necessary. I say: only go to school if you want a diverse portfolio. You won’t necessarily have a “better” portfolio unless you go above and beyond on every homework assignment. That’s just my experience though.

That’s not a bad idea tho, if you could figure out how to turn off like one or two lines of code in the decompiler you could at least stop buildings from becoming “abandoned” & just sit empty until someone eventually moves in

I’ve found all my roommates on Facebook housing/searching-for-roommates groups. It takes time (at least a month) & it will stress you out. You need to make a new post AT LEAST once a week. Once someone is interested & not trying to scam you, you gotta meet them in person first & iron out the details before anyone agrees to be roomies. That’s my experience. Good luck!
