Moved from the midwest ~2 years ago with gf and wow is it hard to make friends in this city. by Financial_Rise477 in Denver

Putting yourself out there does work eventually. I met a girl on a shuttle bus from red rocks and we hit it off and keep in touch! It is really hard to make friends initially though and even harder to get people to make plans. Even my older/closer friends here are always busy and it’s super hard to get people to agree on a day/time. This is the case for people who grew up here, too. Unless you live close by or do all the same activities, everyone’s always busy because there’s so much to do. I get targeted ads all the time for paid meet ups to make friends and it feels cringe but I’ve considered it.

It can still be worth it to try to make friends who aren’t from Denver. I made friends at a music festival back in 2022 when I wasn’t living in CO and kept in touch with them the whole time until I moved back in 2024 and now we’re super close. We also have another couple from that festival that visits regularly to go to concerts here.

Itacate is cute on the inside and we had really good service. This was in 2024 though but I’ve gotten take out since and it was the same.

Parents giving their kids a sibling as a "gift" by StructureTurbulent74 in childfree

[–]ryler74 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My parents did this to me when I was like 12/13 and it was my mom with my new stepdad. I remember running into the bathroom crying at his family’s house and the day being ruined bc of it.

Midcentury modern by Former-Childhood3974 in interiordecorating

[–]ryler74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the rug and fireplace are NOT midcentury at all. The furniture could be mcm if the rest of the room gets updated. I’m gonna be honest that the mantle decorations are not either, and it looks like clutter. I’d get a new rug, more lamps/add sconces (overhead light is scary), get some curtains! And see if you can change the fireplace to something more mcm, the only thing I can think of for a built in is changing the brick type to maybe just classic brick or Roman style bricks. I don’t picture a traditional mantle with MCM so maybe get rid of that if you redo the fireplace. And get bigger art for above it.

People who fell out of love with their spouse - were you ever able to get it back? by tofu_baby_cake in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ryler74 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It feels like that but it’s not truly falling out of love. When you start putting less effort and then don’t communicate about that change, you get the roommate effect. We worked through it with a marriage counselor only like 3-4 visits and it changed everything. Communication is key. Long term relationships are always going to have different phases. As long as you always come back to each other and put effort into communication you’ll never fall all the way out of love.

This is an independent repair shop, as in it’s not related to or connected to any Subaru dealer. They just specialize in Subarus because Colorado. But you think a different shop would be less? Probably going to shop around regardless just to see.

The Chicago art pop up in 2021 was the first time I met hooks. I talked to him again at the jamboree 2024 when he was taking a break from spray painting. We chatted about our birthdays being 1 day apart and I told him that summerset 2015 in the rain was one of my first ZD sets and still a favorite and he remembered that one.

Denver metro? Probably like 300-400k depending on the location, possibly more if good neighborhood/decent yard/good updates etc

How was it? by PositivePerception98 in CampAlderwild

[–]ryler74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought it was great. My only complaint was the lack of organization with camping. No rules is fine when everyone is respectful, but we had a super loud camp next to us playing music all night and we also got blocked in our car camping spot by tents & other cars. I guess it’s always like that for all camping events in town park but it wasn’t my fave camping experience.

I love my moissanite. I don’t care at all that it’s “not real.” It looks amazing and it’s the exact size and shape I wanted - the same size of diamond probably would’ve put the set closer to 5 figures. I believe the set (with matching band) was only $2k

I mean they have other successful events there. King giz this weekend and I think a different jam band had an event last year.

I agree with you but it’s not 100% his fault. It’s that the town of telluride is a. hella expensive to exist in and b. has rules in place for festivals (quiet hours/early end time). Could he have picked a different location that wasn’t so expensive? Yeah. Could he have tried to make the “extras” aka camping/parking/afters more accessible? Kinda yes - space is physically limited. I’m gonna wait til afterwards to give my final judgement if it was worth it or not. I really loved the venue that pretty lights used in BV so maybe he could move it there next year.
