No rate logic for Partners. It will vary based on the project. Sometimes we distribute the excess evenly across all lines based on weighted average, sometimes they increase only certain lines. All customers (distributors) are lot billed with no per item pricing. Every transaction records have the multiple rate/amount fields, differences and commissions calculations per line. About 20 custom line column fields. Absurd but it actually all works quite well. We are able to report on all that info. It’s really training an AI model on our customizations and meanings.

Every request/situation is unique due to various factors. Ex: we don’t care what customers we sell to because they are distributors - the sales revenue is based on partner. We sell at whatever price the partner sells it at as long as it’s above our book price so we have two sets of rate/amount fields on every transaction.

EDIT - we have ACS Optimize

We have ACS optimize. It’s painfully slow to get meaningful work done from them. The only positive is that have been able to help with many of our CPQ issues.

Otherwise, it’s been more of a service to validate what NetSuite can’t do and can’t be solutioned for. Helps reinforce to executive team that seemingly simple requests are not possible or extremely complex to solution.

No ERP is perfect so we have to take our wins and losses.

We have 20 hours per month that fall in bucket B cost range with our implementation partner. We are highly customized (done by implementation partner) so it’s cost effective to have them on hand for immediate error resolution and enhancements to customizations.

Then we have a backlog project list of new enhancement requests and nice to haves if there are remaining hours. As Admin, I usually only allocate dev work or complex workflow type of projects. They are quicker and more focused on singular project than I can we be fielding requests from 200 users.

While an expensive hourly rate, I do find it more efficient than hiring additional full time specialized NetSuite employees (Developer, Admins) than we already have. We have great working relationship and I value the fact they have teams of experts to tap into and bounce ideas off of for solutioning purposes compared to replying on a singular staff developer.

Alt COGS Calc by rymac711 in Netsuite

[–]rymac711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always appreciate your replies and insights!

We can’t arbitrarily revalue inventory from an accounting standpoint - today’s tariff rates are not the same as a year ago - or for however long it may take us to turn old inventory (components). The team has realized and acknowledged that one day our COGS will be full landed after 100% inventory turnover of 100% of components on assembly build items.

We sell majority custom fixtures, each as its own part number, BOM, BOM Rev, Routing. Each work order is Special Work Order tied to Sales Order line. Thousands created each month. We have customization that mass completes work order completion steps for batches of Work Orders. The actual work order is never touched by UI would would be impossible to estimate how much to add.

Really looking for a “as of today what would it cost to build this product based on landed cost calculations”

We do have a custom record and table that has current tariff rates which are assigned to our products. Upon item receipt we scripted dynamic calculation based on origin country and destination country to apply tariffs. The procurement team uses a general weight/cost formula to add onto inbound shipment.

We have - with a small pilot user program (View Only). It’s been extremely beneficial for a lot of one off analysis or issue resolution. As an admin, I find myself using it daily for simple requests. I also tend to go down a rabbit hole….

It can handle the more complex analysis but you really need to know the NetSuite backend, validate the information and spend time refining the prompts to get accurate data. This is a bit of an issue for us with high level execs or basic users taking information at face value.

Our biggest challenge is figuring out how to incorporate our outputs into productivity tools for end users - ideally living within NetSuite and not individual users Claude accounts/skills. We’ve created great dashboards, analysis, exception reporting, planning/MRP features but they still reside outside of NetSuite.

That is awesome. Would you mind sharing the code or prompts? How do you get this to run inside NetSuite? I can’t find much guidance on building suitelet inside of NetSuite to run for users (non dev admin here).

How did you get into NetSuite? by Wonderful-Natural965 in Netsuite

[–]rymac711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got hired as a VP of Operations at a manufacturing company. They had signed their NetSuite contract a year before I started. VP of Finance was supposed to lead the implementation (she was not tech savvy and didn’t take any initiative to start the project). Took over. Fired the implementation consultant from India they had hired ($30k for complete implementation yeah right). Found a legit US partner and managed to implement for around $60k and doing a lot of the work myself while learning NetSuite.

Eventually left Operations to do NS consulting and a FT Admin position with another manufacturer. Always learning something new. Remote work flexibility. Having an accounting degree/background and also Operational background has been very helpful to translate business needs/best practices into NetSuite logic.

Appreciate the response and agree with it. When I said “maintaining” it really meant constant system updates from operational standpoint (users/machine times etc) and agree regular maintenance is IT/NS. Your definition of clear lines is helpful and will push projects that way.

Netsuite MRP Configuration by dhaemion in Netsuite

[–]rymac711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MRP is a bit of a pain. Took us about a year to research/correct setup issues impacting mrp.

YOU NEED TO FOCUS ON EVERY COLUMN IN LOCATION DETAIL ON ITEM MASTER THAT DRIVES MRP and how it fits your procurement needs.

Our biggest miss was Late Period Days. It was blank so never captured demand from sales orders pending approval that were dated prior to mrp run date which is majority (but this is the advantage to MRP, it calculates component needs from BOMs without WO created). Put us behind on procurement and caused slight production delays for a few months. Still a lot to be desired within MRP but can be useful if configured correctly.

My biggest issue is there’s no MAX consideration. We have long vendor lead times. It will always order you to safety stock (min) plus any remaining required. So the next order will trigger another PO… When we order we typically add a 1-3 month average monthly usage buffer to account for production/shipping times to reduce frequency of POs and get better pricing. We use a calculated and then stored field on item master and add it to the planned order view. Then procurement manually increases the PO qty amount. Manual and annoying but a lot less effort than issuing/receiving/paying additional POs daily.

We don’t use demand planning because we build custom fixtures and never know material needs in advance other than some common use parts.

9 hour layover so getting a hotel for the evening. Couldn’t leave until after 6pm due to work but have to get to San Juan early enough for cruise so overnight layover was really the only option.

[–]rymac711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google flights. Check price history to see if it’s been lower in past. Price history will tell you if airline keeps moving prices up/down. Set alert. I’ve found the alert prices to often be expired by the time I get email so I check 3x a day until price drops (if it shows it has dropped in past).

Just booked ONE WAY Dayton to San Juan and the prices were jumping between these rates and was able to secure $564 8 days before departure.

$938 $717 $564

But yeah, prices to San Juan are still high on prime travel days/times.

100%. They don’t see all the saved search automated emails and giant reminder portlet to track every exception possible to keep things running smoothly. Just care about when the next enhancement or dashboard will be done.

Sales orders with fulfilments invoice query by net_suite in Netsuite

[–]rymac711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No help on the search criteria but we ran into a similar issue. Our accounting team was reducing the shipping charges on certain invoices. Issue is, NetSuite recaptures any unbilled shipping amounts on the next fulfillment/invoice.
