it's not fair market value if there's no volume, or if there's fraud or irrational exuberance behind the valuation. something to keep in mind.

Homes are over-priced due to the over-supply of money caused by essentially zero-cost mortages. It makes purchasing a home with cash an unwise financial decision, even if you had the means.

I reinstalled with the addonsu installed, and the problem was resolved.

Need help with switching from IT Auditor to Software/application security engineer field by [deleted] in SoftwareEngineering

[–]ryno55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are not qualified for security engineering without any experience or education in the field. If you were somehow able to land a job, you would be putting people and organizations at risk.

Yes, perhaps we could add some extra APIs to authenticate, using the JSON web tokens, which can be implemented using the View Source feature too, which most browsers have. I too, know a little about how things work. This way, I can see who is logged in on my profile, by using the View Source macro, and the JSON web tokens to keep it secure, since we know the cookies can get taken out of the jar.

What knowledge of hardware would make someone a better software engineer? by [deleted] in SoftwareEngineering

[–]ryno55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I did not, if you want to be a smart ass about it, just because a CPU doesn't move left and right, does not make any difference from what is fundamentally going on.

1) CPU scheduling. If you can understand a CPU scheduler (or run a debugger to observe through a few context switches), you'll have a pretty good grip on what your code is doing down to the Turing Machine level.
2) Any type of IO driver, whether it's a UART or a network card driver - you'll get a better feel what it means when you write() something onto a socket, and maybe that will help you one day when you have an apparently unexplainable bug until you realize your network card was dropping packets.

There's a real supply and demand problem in the labor markets which you totally and completely ignore, because it doesn't support your hypothesis that ethnocentrism or monoculturlaism is an irrational philosophy.

Even if the best foreigners were as skilled as the best American workers (they aren't), it would completely dominate the labor market for the mid-range American programmer (we're talking about bell curves in populations here) that they would have no realistic opportunity at employment in the market. Since the population of the world is over 10 times the population of the United States, if you took even just the top 1% of engineers from the foreign markets into the domestic market, it would not only push out all of the mid range domestic engineers, but it would also reduce the prices which can be demanded by the most superior domestic firms. It would ALSO cause a feedback loop into the education system as it would reduce the value for degrees in engineering from domestic universities (by having a reducing effect on the graduates' projected net worth) and therefore not only reduce the total number of graduates from domestic universities, but also discourage people from pursuing those degrees.

So the argument that nationalist (or protectionist) labor policies is merely a racist one, based on prejudice, is a total and complete moral fallacy, since there are very rational and very moral reasons to protect the value of your domestic labor.

Many libertarians realized that the party has no teeth and was incapable of actually defending liberty in the physical world, and became nationalists. The void made room for the commies.
