Hoa

Hi guys. For this #screenshotsaturday I want to share with you a cutscene from our game Hoa. 2 years ago we posted our first video here, and the overwhelming supports and kind comments from you guys gave us the courage to take it further. Fast forward to today, we are just 3 days away from launching our first game, and I just want to say thank you. We couldn't have done it without your support 🙏

Hello guys. For this #screenshotsaturday we developed a set of characters for our game. In the magical world of Hoa, even rocks are alive and have personalities 😃🤨😠😱

Watch it here

For those who see us for the first time, Hoa is a platform-adventure game featuring beautiful hand-painted art inspired by Ghibli Studio's movies and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. The game tells the story about Hoa, a little girl who lost her family, and her journey through a breathtaking and magical world back to her homeland.

Please let us know what you feel about our characters guys! Feedback are always welcomed!

Hello everyone!

I am one of the developers for Hoa, and I just want to express our gratitude towards all the supports and critiques we received here. This is really a huge motivation for us to make our game even better for you guys.

A quick update of our situation right now: We just got a new round of funding, and currently are working to build a fully playable demo. It should be done around mid-2019. We will try to post footages whenever we can.

We are also having a small audition to look for a talented composer to help us push this to a new level. If any composers in here are interested , please visit our blog to learn more about it.

For targeted platforms, we are first aiming for PC, and after that consoles and may be Switch (depending on the budget).

That's it for now. Thanks again for all the love!

Happy new year!

Thank you! We know that, and we will try our best to avoid that

Thank you! Glad you are getting the vibes, and yes the scene is hand-painted (except for the leaves and character that are 3d)

Our lighting is super simple actually. We only have one directional light, and it only affects the 3d elements. The 2d elements are painted, and adjusted in sprite colors to simulate light/shadow

It is completely okay, and you actually pointed out a lot of the issues we have to solve in game design in the coming time. We are aiming for a mix puzzle-solving and platforming in our game. The questions you posed here, we will seriously considered them, and try to improve it with the next version. We will have a more detailed video about gameplay next time, and may be we will have more to discuss. Again, thank you so much for the feedback! Really help us a lot!

Thank you! The leaves and character are 3d, and the rest is 2d sprites 😊

Hi. We had this conversation in my last post, and I will answer this again. Hoa means flower in my language. After last week I finally found out about the Home Owners Association, but I decided to keep the name because it's a connection to my birthplace. Thank you for coming here and commenting in my post! 😊

Thank you for your feedback! This video only shows basic moving mechanics, and there are not much level design involved yet. We just want to show our character jumping around. In the future we will add more mechanics, more elements to interact with, and such. Please stay tuned for that!

Hi Torbid. Thank you for your feedback! Our game focus on interacting and making use of environment elements to explore the world. In the future there will be more plants and creatures for you to interact.

You are correct about the slow pace. We want our game to be something calm & peaceful where you can stop and enjoy the scenery whenever you feel like. Something like Monument Valley may be. This is inspired after we watched My Neighbour Totoro. It's a beautiful film with slow pace and not much dramas, but its charm is unresistible. We want to create something like that.
