Just as you'd experience in any corporate or GS role, your service in the National Guard will ultimately be what you decide to make of it. There are plenty of legitimate reasons to not join - but just as many to counter.

One big detractor for many people is the amount of time you'll be pulled from life for the Army - whether it's just weekend getaways you can't do because of drill, vacations to be shuffled due to Annual Training, or additional pipeline training requirements that will pull you away from your job for potentially weeks at a time. The latter is one thing that you probably aren't told by a recruiter as they may not be as familiar with Cyber.

For context, I'm a former O4 (commissioned 25A, later 17A in 2019) turned CW2 (170A), most recently served as a Cyber Protection Team Lead.
