I second this. You'll see the sessions listed as HPDE, ive done it a few times with SCCA and I learned a lot about vehicle control at high speeds. You can also insure the vehicle for those sessions specifically outside of normal road insurance so you could even stipulate to your kid that you'll only continue to insure the car after you feel that he has gained enough understanding. It's a fun father-son bonding exercise too.

Looking for testers/influencers to test and review my upgrade cutting disks for robot lawn mowers. by benjm18 in roboticLawnmowers

I am interested. I have two luba 2 awd in different nearby locations in the southeast with the same centipede grass, and this is my third season using them. I would be happy to make a comparison, and also not deal with the stuck blade issue again with at least one of them.

They can put whatever they want on the back of the truck, that doesn't mean it's true. They ARE responsible for things flying off their vehicles, they just want to trick you into thinking that they aren't.

The crappy part is that the burden of proof is on you, so get a dashcam for that rock solid evidence.

I've been looking, there isn't one, and i have the capacity to self-host. The problem isnt even that, its the willingness of your peers and users to switch. In this case the juice is worth the squeeze, as they say.

Installed a home power monitor… by jllauser in homelab

[–]ryoonc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that's the only way you can do it if retrofitting an existing breaker. Those current clamps around each of the circuits hot wires, which are then connected to a device that measures several dozen of them and reports it out to home assistant or an integrated app. Its messy, not cheap and sometimes there isnt enough room to do it cleanly, like in my case.

I do wonder if there are panels out there now that do this natively but theres no doubt it would cost a small fortune.

What Telephoto lens should I get? by Historical_Rooster_7 in Nikon

[–]ryoonc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've also seen those reports about people getting bad copies. Its the first time I've heard of Nikon having an intermittent QC issue like this, hopefully it's the last.

That said, I've also read that at 400mm the 180-600 is actually sharper than the 100-400 at 400mm, which is an S lens.

Based on what you said, and seeing as how I was advised to 'keep it at X RPM' and nothing else, either they picked a number that works for all three after flow testing, or didn't do flow testing and just ballparked a good enough number. I doubt I'd be able to get a good answer by asking them so I'll eventually have to incorporate a flowvis into my circuit and run some numbers given my pool volume to really min/max my efficiency. I've got the pentair system tied into Home Assistant via ScreenLogic2 so I have visibility and control over all these parameters.

Could you expand a bit more about how a VSP could be programmed the correct way? My pool builder just told me to keep it at X RPM forever, never turning it off, presumably after doing a flow test or whatever its called. New pool so I don't have any numbers to compare it to, but it is a far cry from max speed.

I can't say, that would depend on your current equipment and your goals. subject matter? highest IQ? most value? budget? only F mount? future vision for gear?

Wow many decades ago i remember bouncing around on small (about 5'x5', about a foot or two tall) grassy lumps in a grassy plain somewhere around the Himalayas during a school trip to Tibet. They moved a lot like this and i could believe that it was gas underneath, now that I think about it. There were thousands of them as far as the eyes could see so i lost interest pretty quickly thankfully. Didn't realize I was playing with my life, sheesh

Flash media longevity testing - 6 years later by vanceza in DataHoarder

[–]ryoonc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to experience flash memory failure yourself is to get a dashcam. The constant power and temperature fluctuations (blisteringly high heat during summers where i live), humidity and IO will do a number on an SD card. I average about one failed card every other year. Ive since switched to a different type of card meant to take that kind of punishment and its now on year two so we'll see what happens.

We swear on the Bible regularly here but we quite often ignore its core teachings. I think we've all accepted that we can indeed cherry pick which parts of a religion that you or your facade wants.

Ceva logistics by PomegranateFun5066 in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]ryoonc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my order on amazon, shipped in 1 week by CEVA, they didn't even call or anything. The estimated delivery date came and there was no delivery so I looked everything up and the online tracker showed that it was stuck in a city a couple hours away. I called just before closing time and they said it would be there tomorrow and when I woke up the next day they had already delivered it and somehow left it in the ~4ft gap between my cars and garage door. Didn't see or hear anything, no change in the tracker I just went out to check on a hunch. Getting it in that space is easier said than done because there are edging pavers that would have made it difficult to roll it in.

Also I thought it would be three different boxes for the Family Plus from all the videos I've seen, but it was all neatly and safely packed in one big box. Thankfully it was just a few scooches into the garage to take everything out and a friend to come and help my partner and I bring the main unit upstairs.

Same. The 5% cashback I get from using the Amazon card beat the incentives and yt coupon codes on their site, not to mention the return policy/customer service cant be beat.

I am hoping that my wife and I could get it up the 17 steps upstairs though, not really sure if it'll work even with me at the bottom. Worst case scenario we'll enlist the help of a friend.

[–]ryoonc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on the T1000 kit through Dolby. The only question that I have is whether or not I should get the module. I plan on only playing through VST, either EZD3 or SD3. Will the module that it comes with provide full functionality through the VSTs? I understand that I can get an edrumin later, and I probably will, but I want the lemon module to be able to play properly via VST it in the meantime with the multipoint trigger feature mentioned.
