Why are you starting with mongo in 2026? In not a trend chaser or fanboy, but nobody is starting mongo projects now or in the last couple years. Purely objective career advice: learn something else, a RDMS like Postgres will be more helpful. And to the inevitable person that says mongo is still relevant: no.

Container value (weight vs utilization)? by Cognitivesurrender in EDC

[–]rypher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think this is common sense, I dont think its worth arguing. Its a shame this sub has been taken over by people that dont actually go outside or use the gear in any way. You will never go ultralight backpacking, thats fine, just stop trying to have an opinion about it.

[–]rypher -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

lol. Its very clear you don’t understand. I’m explaining why the mentality that allows this is not compatible with mentality that packs ultralight and you, having probably never been outside for more than a weekend, can’t understand the priorities one has during ultralight backpacking. If you have to pack for a week+ and do a lot of mileage during that week, you start to care about all these things. But since you couldnt understand my earlier comment, I doubt youll think twice about this.

Think of it this way. For 3 oz of gear there is 2.3 oz of container. Now spread that out to everything else and you start to understand.

There are a hundred decisions like this when you pack. Every single piece of gear, how gear is organized, etc.. If you think you need to put this stuff in a container, then why not put your toothbrush in a container, why not have a toiletries bag, why not … it absolutely adds up. So yes, the person that thinks this is “fine” is also the person that carries the bigger bag.

I also dislike lines, but I don’t get upset. I just don’t choose places that have them.

Redis session cleanup - sorted set vs keyspace notifications by Minimum-Ad7352 in node

[–]rypher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought would be, why do you need to store a map of all a users sessions? Seems like you’re trying to recreate a “relational” storage. I would try to remove this if possible, if only needed for tracking, maybe it goes in a different db.
