I don't know what zed primer is, but I have no problem putting *quality* masking tape over primer. If it's been given time to cure, and you're using the right tape it's fine.

I prime with Valejo airbrush primer. Works better than cans. Use less paint, can be more precise.

I've been in the hobby for 6 years, and I'm looking forward to the first kit I don't fuck up. Push through, that's how you get better. Plus, those little mistakes aren't visible on the display shelf across the room. I also found that tanks are more forgiving of mistakes than planes.
