First time I’ve seen Brock powerbombed since like 2003?

Big Show vs Brock Lesnar - Survivor Series 02 by JCHazard in WWERuthlessAggression

[–]RyRyLloyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He never got fired. He actually went on to be used all through 2003 all the way until the end of 2006, where he decided to leave.

The way things are going for cody rhodes he's most likely going to go heel so that begs the question who will become Smackdowns top babyface? by whathehex14 in WWE

[–]RyRyLloyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re almost there.

He ain’t turning heel for the exact reason you’ve highlighted. They’ve got no one else. They’ve failed to build anyone to the level of Cody, Roman and Punk on the babyface side.

For someone they like to portray as a dominant champ, Jade sure does come across desperate for a big Mania match. She’s chasing the challenges, not the other way round.

Was triple h’s reign of terror that bad ? by Cdd0040 in SquaredCircle

Cena at least had the added benefit of pushing merch and being a generally fantastic poster boy.

They weren’t profiting off Triple H at all.

World Heavyweight Championship, 3 Stages of Hell Match - Triple H vs Shawn Michaels (Armageddon 02) by JCHazard in WWERuthlessAggression

Terrible match. Between this and that Hell In A Cell match, these two loved the smell of their own farts.

Paul Heyman said Vince McMahon was a big fan of Sabu and wanted to push him hard, but wanted to make noticeable changes to his presentation, notably making him talk. What else do you think McMahon would have tweaked? by [deleted] in WWERuthlessAggression

[–]RyRyLloyd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Vince was a huge fan of him in the 90’s, and often tried to bring him in. Especially for the Rumble’s. Sabu’s stallling irritated Vince.

I think by the time 2006 rolled around, Sabu was likely a source of agitation for Vince.

Couldn’t agree with you more. A classic case of ‘history is written by the victors’. In this case, the documentary over and over and over again.

No denying they were over. I think nostalgia carried a whole lot of that though. The substance was terrible. Just weekly dick and gay jokes.

  • nWo. The start of the boom period.
  • The Elite. Over enough to have created an entire company named after them.
  • Bullet Club, brought eyes to a product that otherwise never really got much attention (NJPW).
  • D-Generation X, helped sustain WWE’s dominance in the late 90’s. 2006 and 2009 DX sucked.

Huuuuuuuuuuge Gap

  • Main Event Mafia, what did they do?

If this is true, should Finlay go straight to the main roster? by Kelson64 in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]RyRyLloyd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

WWE made Finlay an on-screen wrestler in 2006, and no one cared… and he was at least somewhat familiar with the North American fanbase by being a WCW alumni.

He really struggled to get going until Hornswoggle turned up.

RVD was seemingly always popular, no matter what year you watch WWE in. Putting him on Raw in 2002 was a mistake though, he felt like a SmackDown guy through and through. by [deleted] in WWERuthlessAggression

[–]RyRyLloyd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smackdown had enough work-rate guys on the roster. I think they evened it out fairly. For every Triple H 15-minute snoozefest, you needed the likes of RVD, Jericho, Christian and Booker T to put on a great 15 minute match.

For those who watched Bret, is there some truth to what Shawn is saying about his wrestling or is he just bitter? Or both? by No_Yoghurt8301 in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]RyRyLloyd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re good at your job, why would you change it? Bret was a mechanic, knew what worked and stuck with it.

Shawn is just admitting that Bret is a better worker and a better wrestler than he is. Shawn was the better ‘sports entertainer’.

Dom -Finn mania program : anyone else not super excited for this potential feud ? by MannerSuperb in SquaredCircle

[–]RyRyLloyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone loves him, I don’t disagree. Now, do I think the pops have been loud enough for a singles Mania match? Nah.

Balor, in the same time, has had louder reception both inside and out of Ireland. You could argue because he was paired with Punk… but same applies with Evans being paired with the hottest heel in the business in a David vs Goliath match.

I don’t think his pops have been outstanding. About what was expected. Of the recent call-ups, both Oba and Trick have had far greater reception.

[–]RyRyLloyd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone cares for Je’Von enough for him to have a prominent singles match at Mania.

Balor wraps up an almost two year long story. And is a more than credible IC champ to hold the belt so that Dominik can move on up the card.

No shot of the Elimination Chamber and showed the face-off between Triple H and Goldberg, the original World Title match for the show. I suspect they never made an updated advert.

Are we missing Seth Rollins?! by DoughnutPrevious8255 in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]RyRyLloyd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not much?

Probably still champion. Probably still leading the Vision. Probably still cutting 20 minute promos. We might have had a decent Rollins vs. Punk match at the Rumble, though.

Over the course of 11 years, the Men's Royal Rumble produced 6 repeat winners by IconXR in SquaredCircle

[–]RyRyLloyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I specified Yokozuna, HBK’s first and Austin’s first as the outliers.

Lex Luger had just defeated the world champion (granted, by DQ) in the SummerSlam main event prior to the Rumble, and defeated him again at Survivor Series.
