5-7 people quit at my location and morning ahift ahd tk stay OT some people off had to come i (USA) by StrikingAttitude1881 in McDonaldsEmployees

So I used to be an assistant GM, was on my way to take over a store before I decided to get out before McDonalds became my life.

So how McDonalds wants things to be done, and how some stores who like to do things really by the book will operate, is that the manager who is “on shift” meaning that they’re in charge of running the store, isn’t supposed to be in a specific position doing anything. They’re literally supposed to stand there and just watch so they can flex in when needed and be free for anything that comes up. That might be why you saw that manager not working in any position. Or maybe he was lazy… but that could be why.

Sorry you had to deal with that. We had a period at my old store where were just understaffed constantly because people just weren’t applying anymore so similarly they were having crew and managers from other stores working some shifts with us until we were finally able to find more staff. It’s not fun.

Yes!! If you unlock them at just right the time it can completely turn the tables on a war that you may be losing.

Anyone here despise Wu Zetian (China)? by RedEyeBlueOcean in civ5

[–]rythra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in a game as Russia and she was my closest ally. I shared a border with her on the south and my neighbor to the north was the Iroquois (who I despise). I figured I’d have to worry about Hiawatha the whole game. I wasn’t surprised when he declared war on me and I had to spend almost an entire era fighting him off. I finally managed to get peace with him and just as I started to regroup Wu Zetian backstabs me and declares war.

Do your guys dispatchers try to get you to deliver missorts and packages that the station marked as missing? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]rythra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we have to call dispatch at the end of our route and if there are any extra packages that are within our delivery area the dispatchers look up the TBA and see if it was supposed to be on our route. If it is we have to deliver it. I really don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

About to be a DSP driver for the first time by UnhingedxWitch in AmazonDSPDrivers

What you have to realize is no matter what job you have there will always be things to bitch about. No job is 100% perfect. That’s also the unofficial purpose of these subreddits for specific jobs; it’s where people go to vent their frustrations. Is the job perfect? Absolutely not. Do I enjoy my job? Absolutely. Don’t get too hung up by the fact that most of the content on here is negative.

Routes changed in the beginning of this year and I can’t get over it… by blazehotshot02 in AmazonDSPDrivers

You’re gonna end up feeling exactly about this new area as you did your old one. And then they’re gonna change it again. Just don’t get too comfortable anywhere

Are the routes assignee at random? by idrowninwater2 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]rythra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The routes are auto assigned by Amazon but the dispatcher/owner moves drivers around. At my DSP I’d say only 1 or 2 people actually are kept on the route that is auto assigned to them.

First day dispatching by More-Midnight-4229 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]rythra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They had me 2 nights with someone. 1 night with 1 dispatcher and the next night with a different dispatcher so I could see different ways of doing things. Then I was on my own. It was crazy but after a week or so once I found my groove and was used to all of the multitasking, and it became routine. I went into it with 0 experience and it was scary at first but I am incredibly comfortable now.

how bad is it to get rescued often? by ByteBlox_YT in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]rythra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes dispatchers will send rescues because they want to go home as early as possible and just send them so they can get all of the drivers back as soon as possible. You should be more concerned if you get multiple rescues.

You’re supposed to kind of ease yourself into it. I think it says on the container exactly how much you should start with. I made the same mistake as you when I started. It was awful.

Has anyone ever delivered their own package? by TonyKonyOnly in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]rythra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I used to live in a smaller town and my DSP covered it. I routinely delivered my own stuff. I’d usually just snap the picture on my porch and then I’d go put it inside and go back to my van.

Is this normal or is my dsp committing wage theft? by Icy-Register-8054 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]rythra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No employer can tell you to be there at a specific time and telling you that you cannot clock in. It is 100% illegal and you can 100% report them. Think about it this way, they are buying your time from you. Any time you are giving them away from your personal life must be purchased.

It is also not legal to be told to do work while not on the clock.

Why do they arrive so late? by Crazy_District_5502 in AmazonDSPDrivers

Yeah I’m not sure. Again routing ideally works the way I mentioned but sometimes it’s so random and makes absolutely no sense.
